In support of the AVA mission to improve patient safety, comfort and outcomes; define the specialty; promote a favorable public policy environment; optimize professionals’ knowledge and skills; share best practices; and promote research in vascular access, the Wise foundation has been established to offer research grants and educational scholarships necessary to develop evidence based vascular acc
ess care. By 2015, the Wise Foundation targets the improvement of patient outcomes by funding research in the science of vascular access and supporting the translation of that research in practice. A successful strategic, visionary and dynamic organization, the Wise Foundation is known as an independent, international and multi-disciplinary entity. By setting priorities in research and supporting education in evidence-based Best Practices, the Wise foundation has defined vascular access as a specialty with its own core curriculum.
