The Herreid Fire Department had a busy and productive night this past Monday! M & T Supply out of Volga, SD was on hand to fit our department with new Wildland and extracation gear! The vast majority of emergency calls handled by the HFD involve grass, hay, and brush fires, as well as accident response! We are appreciative of the Fire District and taxpayer support in obtaining this much needed gear. We were also given a demonstration on the use of battery operated struts. These are invaluable at accident scenes and in many other situations that a firefighter may encounter. After being fitted for new gear and the other demonstrations, the firefighters drove the trucks, ran the pumps, etc. Finally, the flags were replaced on the memorial as the recent winds had wreaked havoc on them. We fly the flags to honor our great nation as well as all those who have served and are currently serving as a First Responders and Military!๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ๐บ๐ธ
Lastly, a great lunch was prepared by Jesse Weisbeck and Arnie Hanson with the final touch being the availability of 5 different flavors of Dutch-made Kuchen!!!
