Well, so far we have $94 in donations, that'll buy 9 bales of hay. If I cut back to 3 bales a day, that'll give us 3 days. I'm on my way to the feed store now!! Thank you to those who donated!!

If you haven't donated, please consider giving. I can't care for these horses without you! ❤️

Donation's are trickling in!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

I'm one of those independent, strong willed, I can do it myself, women, so asking for help is really hard. But I firmly believe that accepting the gift blesses the giver. So, again, thanks to all who stepped up, and may you be doubly blessed in return!

Winter is once again closing in and we are no closer to finding a permanent home where we can safely resume our business, Thunder Ridge Riding Center. We are officially closed for now.

The time has come for hard decisions. Without additional help from our friends, the decision to euthanize our older horses and re-home some of our younger horses lies before us.

When I adopted these horses I promised they would never enter the auction pipeline or be candidates for slaughter. I will keep that promise, even if I have to take drastic measures. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I can no longer afford to support so many.

Reality is, the last 4 bales of hay in the barn, not having money for essential supplies like dewormer, not being able to afford needed dental care, and God forbid if we ever have a serious illness or injury.

I have no idea where our next week of hay is coming from. We feed $40 of hay a day, $280/week, plus $60 in special pellets for our oldest horses. We've been feeding at this level for the last 2 years with no riding income. Our savings are gone and our options are few. With no trail riding or lesson business we can't make it without donations.

To euthanize is also expensive. $250 for the vet and $310 for care afterwards. We are in a very tough situation all around.

While making these hard decisions, will you consider making a generous donation?

I promise you that every penny goes into the upkeep of these deserving horses. They, and I, need your help, I can no longer do this alone. Will you help?

Please private message me if you have questions. I don't think I could handle a public discussion right now.

Who would like to donate a case of Ivermectin dewormer for our gang? A case is 12 syringes of paste. It's a critical need going into fall and all our existing funds are going for hay and feed. The best price I could find is at Valley Vet. https://www.valleyvet.com/ct_detail.html?pgguid=21C7E489-9740-42B3-817D-B5E5C99A1A4C

The shipping address is:

Please let me know if you decide to donate, so I can let our other friends know.

Thank you in advance for your generosity! It is very much appreciated!!

Hello to all our friends! I hope your summer is going well and not too awfully hot!

We've been holding our own, though we've been in an uncertain situation since we left the Amber Bear property last year. The riding horses haven't worked since then, and the retired horses have been hanging out, enjoying the laid back life.

I haven't pursued the 501-c3 status since everything has been up in the air. We've been making it, but this past summer we've had no pasture and we've spent all we have on hay and feed.

Now, I'm asking for help. We are preparing to move to our new permanent home!! Keeping up with feed and supplies while paying for our new home, and moving 520 miles east is daunting!!

I know things are tight for everyone, but if you could possibly donate a few dollars to help, it would be greatly appreciated!!

It costs us $300 a week to feed the horses, and we need supplies like supplements, dewormer, and routine care like hoof trimming and dental work. We have 3 that need their teeth "floated" desperately.

If you'd like to help out, please message me privately. I can take donations by PayPal, Venmo, CashApp, Facebook Pay, or credit/debit card with my Square account over the phone. Our bank is Wells-Fargo and I can accept direct deposit with Zelle too.

News on the new place is forthcoming, as soon as we close the deal!! I'm SO excited, but terribly anxious to see that our horses are not neglected because of the money crunch.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! More updates soon!!!! "It's been a long road, getting from here to there . . . "

This is CR Perm, an Arabian bred and foaled in 1994 by the Coffelt Ranch in Sandpoint, Idaho. I couldn't for the life of me think of why they would name a horse "Perm!" I did know that their breeding program was primarily Russian bred Arabians, but only recently I discovered that Perm was a city in Russia!! Mystery solved!

Perm at 27 is still quite energetic, spicy even! He is a favorite with youngsters and adults alike. He enjoys going out on the trails and is an excellent lesson horse as well. I bought Perm three years ago to be my personal saddle horse and he has not let me down! He has a home with me for the rest of his life!!

This is our current senior patriarch, Fred! Fred has a completely smooth mouth, indicating that he is over 30 years old! In this video Fred is going out to join his paddock-mate in the pasture!

Based on Fred's conformation, height, gait, and the fact that he has "broken wind," leads me to believe that he is a Standardbred and was extensively driven as a younger horse. I suspect that he was an Amish cart horse.

After he was sold, he went on to being a trail horse for the wonderful lady that retired him with me. As he aged his "roaring" worsened and she decided rightly to retire him.

As you can see, Fred is still quite active, has gained a lot of weight, and I call him the freight train! He just can't be stopped! However, he is developing weakness in his hindquarters so his trail days are nearly done.

If you're interested in how to feed a smooth mouthed (no teeth!) horse, Fred eats 2 qts each of beet pulp and hay pellets, and 4 qts of Purena Strategy, soaked, twice a day! He is 16.2hh with a lean frame. He also gets a flake of hay to "gum" and keep him busy between meals!

He will always have a home with me at The Last Best Place for Horses!

Say hello to Susan! Susan came to me from some folks in Helena, MT. The story I have is that she raised 2 boys, human boys! They bought Susan as a young horse while their boys were also very young. After 18 years or so, Susan was aged and the boys had left home. So, Susan came to live with me! Best guess is that she is now in her mid twenties. She is honest, dependable, and very sweet! Her challenges are arthritis (of course!), an old shoulder and foot injury, and most recently, she's developing cataracts. She lets me know when she's sore, or just not in the mood for a ride and I respect that! When she's feeling good, she loves to go out and it shows! She is Tennessee Walker and Quarter Horse, and as you can see in the photos, a true black horse. She recently was the bride's es**rt for a wedding!! She is much loved and will always have a home at The Last Best Place!!
