😴 SLEEP IS PART OF YOUR HEALTH PLAN!
We often talk about eating better and moving more—but quality sleep deserves a place in the conversation, too.

Getting enough restorative sleep helps your body recharge and supports your immune system, heart health, metabolism, mood, memory, and overall well-being. For most adults, at least 7 hours of quality sleep each night is recommended.
🌙 Tonight, give rest a priority: keep a consistent bedtime, make your room cool and quiet, and put away electronic devices at least 30 minutes before bed. Small changes can lead to healthier sleep habits.

At Healthy Together Mississippi, we believe healthier families and stronger communities are built through everyday choices—including getting the rest our bodies need.

💚 Rest well. Live well. Stay !

📱🧠 PROTECTING OUR CHILDREN IN A DIGITAL WORLD
A landmark settlement involving Meta is putting a renewed spotlight on an important public health issue: the impact of social media on children and teens.

Mississippi is expected to receive at least $189 million over 10 years as part of a $17.1 billion nationwide settlement arising from claims that social media platforms harmed children. The agreement also requires new protections on Facebook and Instagram, including daily time limits for children, restrictions during school hours, age verification, and additional content controls.

The settlement also provides guidance that funds be directed toward youth mental health and related initiatives—an opportunity that could make a meaningful difference for Mississippi families.

At Healthy Together Mississippi, we encourage parents and caregivers to use this moment to start a conversation at home:
🔹 Talk with children about what they see and experience online.
🔹 Establish healthy boundaries for screen and social media time.
🔹 Watch for changes in sleep, mood, behavior, or relationships.
🔹 Remind young people that asking for help is a sign of strength.

Healthy children need healthy environments—online and offline.

🚭 Healthy Together Mississippi | A Healthier Generation Starts Today
There is encouraging news for America's future health.

New research highlighted by Newsweek suggests that young adults are smoking ci******es at the lowest rates in history, a trend that could lead to fewer tobacco-related cancers in the years ahead. Researchers note that declining cigarette use among younger generations has the potential to significantly reduce the future burden of lung cancer and other smoking-related diseases.

But there's an important reminder: the safest choice is not to smoke—or vape—at all. While fewer young adults are smoking traditional ci******es, ni****ne addiction and the long-term health effects of e-ci******es remain ongoing public health concerns.

Here are a few ways to protect your health:
✅ Don't start smoking or va**ng.
✅ If you currently smoke, make a plan to quit—it's never too late to benefit.
✅ Encourage young people to make tobacco-free choices.
✅ Stay up to date with cancer screenings and preventive healthcare.
✅ Support family and friends who are trying to quit.

Every cigarette not smoked is a step toward healthier lungs, healthier hearts, and healthier communities.

Together, we can help build a future with less cancer, longer lives, and healthier Mississippi families.
