The Harris Poll organization recently surveyed thousands of adults to study how Eagle Scouts compare to people who have never participated in Scouting. While Eagle Scouts scored highest on a number of positive attributes, other Scouting participants also scored significantly higher than the public at large in key metrics including well-being, optimism, healthy activities and choices, leadership, civic engagement, character, values and a willingness to speak up. The values of Scouting remain as relevant and valuable today as they've been for past generations. Click on the below link for the results of this study.

Last week, we recognized three very impressive adult Eagle Scouts with the National Outstanding Eagle Scout Award (NOESA), and also presented the Chickasaw Council's Outstanding Alumnus Award at the Chickasaw Council's annual Recognition Banquet and Celebration of Eagles event. Robert Dinkelspiel, Smith Murphey and Tom Sullivan, our NOESA recipients, have all made strong contributions to Scouting, their professions and their communities at large, and were very worthy recipients of their awards. Our outstanding Alumnus, David Pickler, has similarly been a pillar of our community, and has contributed so much to Scouting and the Chickasaw Council over many years.

Mid-South NESA also recognized the 2025 outstanding Eagle Scout service projects from the 2025 Eagle class. These projects represented a lot of hard work by these Eagle Scouts and their project teams, and will benefit our communities for many years to come.

It was a great night for Scouting in the Mid-South!

Mid-South NESA and Ahoalan-Nachpikin #558 had a successful day of service event at Camp Currier this past Saturday, with approximately 25 Eagle Scouts and Arrowmen in attendance. The group focused on camp preparations for the upcoming regional Order of the Arrow Conclave in April. Cleanup of the camp's amphitheater, parking areas and dining hall were a major focus; as was ongoing construction of the new Order of the Arrow lodge building. The team worked hard and made good progress in the camp's preparations.

At this event, we will prepare the camp for the regional OA Conclave event to be held later this spring. There's no cost to participate, and lunch will be served to all participants.
