This Thursday, May 14, you may notice several boats slowly traveling through the Hernando Beach canals with volunteers onboard getting close to shorelines, seawalls, mangroves, and brush areas.

Don’t worry, they’re not lost… they’re helping clean up our waterways!

Coastal Hernando Business Group has partnered with Keller Williams Spring Hill for their nationwide RED Day community service event. With the help of local volunteers, businesses, and donated boats, teams will be working throughout the canals collecting trash and debris to help keep Hernando Beach beautiful.

If you see the crews out there, give them a wave or say hello! We greatly appreciate everyone donating their time, boats, equipment, and support to help improve our community.

📢 The Hernando County Department of Public Works, in partnership with the Hernando County Utilities Department, will begin 🚧construction on the Calienta Street, Flamingo Boulevard, Petit Lane, and Shoal Line Boulevard Stormwater Project the week of November 17, 2025.
This joint effort project will improve area drainage, utility infrastructure, and roadway safety. 🚗 The project also includes the realignment of Flamingo Boulevard to Shoal Line Boulevard and the removal of Petit Lane. 👷‍♂️ Construction is expected to last approximately 10 months. During this time, motorists should expect periodic delays, but roads will remain open to thru traffic throughout the duration of the project. ⚠️
A project area map is provided below for reference.
Hernando County thanks residents and visitors for their patience as these improvements are made to enhance safety and infrastructure in the area.
