Hermiston Shooters Grab Top 1A Title At State Clays

BEND – The Hermiston trap team swept both the varsity team point total and the overall title for 1A squads as scores were tallied on Saturday, June 27 at the Oregon Trap Shooting State Tournament.

The Bulldog varsity team ended the day with 476 points, five better than second-place Yamhill-Carlton. Douglas finished third in the points.

The overall score for Hermiston was also 476 points. Overall standings are the top five scores regardless of classification.

The Badgers of Powder Valley are also heading home with some hardware as the shooters finished second in both the novice and junior varsity scoring. In the novice class, Siuslaw ended the day with 377 points, edging out North Powder’s 332 points.

It was also Siuslaw in the junior varsity division, but by a much closer margin. Siuslaw wrapped up the day with 402 points, barely getting by North Powder’s total of 398 points.

Today, Sunday, June 28 sees the 2A schools hit the targets with Baker, McLoughlin, Pendleton and Weston-McEwen in action.

Hermiston Trap Team – 2025 1A State Championship Recap
With the 2025 1A State Championship now behind us, I want to take a moment to express how incredibly proud I am of the Hermiston Trap Team. Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, our athletes showed remarkable focus and resilience. Not once did I hear a complaint about the rain—an impressive testament to their dedication and mental toughness.
At the end of the tournament, the team secured 6th place in the 1A Conference—a strong finish considering the high level of competition we faced on Saturday.
A special congratulations to:

• Cooper Wilson – 3rd Place, Male Junior Varsity

This season has been a great experience across the board. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the parents—your support was invaluable. From setting up canopies to keep everyone dry to making sure the team was well-fed, we couldn’t have done it without you.
Lastly, a huge thank you to our assistant coaches. It was an honor to be asked to serve as head coach this year, and I’m grateful for the incredible coaching staff that made my job so much easier. Your dedication and teamwork were instrumental in our success.
Here’s to a great season and an even brighter future for the Hermiston Trap Team!

Hermiston High School Trap Team Congratulates Logan Royer! 🎓🎯
The Hermiston High School Trap Team would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Logan Royer on his graduation!
Logan has been an invaluable member of the team for the past four years. When he first joined, he was a little shy—but now, WOW, he's the life of the party! His dedication and determination have propelled him forward, making him a fierce competitor with an unmatched drive to win.
Logan, it has been an absolute joy coaching you this season. Life will bring its challenges, guaranteed, but remember to approach them the same way we tackle trap shooting: one bird at a time.

Last Sunday, most of our team made the trip to Hillsboro for the State Warm Up Shoot, and despite the heat, we put on an amazing performance!

Huge congratulations to all our shooters! For some, this was their first experience in a true competition setting, and they handled the pressure like champs.

A big shoutout to Hillsboro Trap and S***t and their incredible staff for hosting such a well-run event. We can’t wait to be back in a couple of weeks for the Oregon State Tournament.

The Hermiston High School Trap team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Hermiston Gun Club for hosting the 2025 Youth Shoot last weekend. Competing in a true competition setting was invaluable and will undoubtedly help us as we prepare for the state competition.
We are incredibly grateful to all the parents and club members who contributed their time and effort. Whether you were helping in the kitchen or taking scores, your support was crucial in making the event run smoothly.
A special thank you to Katie Dippold for handling the office. Katie's skill set was a huge part of the shoot's success.
Lastly, thank you to all the teams that attended the shoot. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying the sport we all love. We look forward to seeing you at the next youth shoot or at the state competition.
