This is HUGE NEWS! For the 20th year, our chapter in conjunction with NWTF Turkey Hunters Care Program, provided the main course for Thanksgiving dinners across southern Cochise County. On November 21st, we delivered 320 frozen turkeys, a total of 4,745 pounds, to local charities and organizations. Special thank you to Benson Walmart for their grant, donations and reduced prices! Special thank you to: Larry Whitney, Scott & Joan Vasey, Ray Zoratti, Charlie Hecox & Renee Chambers, Joe Arias, Tom & Joey Fuller, Tom Deecken and Pam & Paul Warren, John Rose, Stephanie & Dave Johnson, Steve Tritz and all other donors.

This program is not possible without all of you and your charitable donations. This time of year, we would like to say thank you for making this possible! For 20 years we have enjoyed giving to the community. In the past 4 years alone we have distributed 1311 turkeys weighing over 9 tons!

On November 15th our chapter had the privilege of assisting William Adams of Troop 464 with his Eagle Scout Project. This project was completed with cooperation of Fort Huachuca staff near the West gate of Fort Huachuca. William's finished water development has improved habitat for wildlife, especially Pronghorn, at the base of the Huachuca mountains. This project included the installation of a 2200 gallon water storage tank, a drinker box and underground water line to connect them. Shane Hall, Fort Forester, obtained materials and supplies for later staging at the work site. After 2 hours of hard work with nearly 40 scouts, the project was complete. Our chapter happily fed the hungry scouts afterwards. This is a great project that will serve decades of wildlife. Great job!!!!!!

Fly fishing at its finest

On October 11, 2025, the Huachuca Goulds Chapter hosted a Women's Fly Fishing Class at the Babacomari Ranch. This is part of the Women in the Outdoors Program offered by NWTF.

A total of 15 women attended the event ranging from Phoenix, Tucson and Sierra Vista areas. Each participant was provided a fly rod, reel and tackle. Armed with their new gear, the group hit the ground to learn casting, gear set up, knot tying, and more. The finale was practical where all participants headed to the pond to try out their newfound knowledge to catch and release bass fish and pan fish. They did very well with several catching fish!

After a tasty lunch break, the group was given a session on fishery conservation, educational fly fishing resources and advanced fly techniques. Despite some inclement weather, these ladies loved the class and interaction.

A huge thank you to Chris O'Connor, Ranch Manger of Babacomari Ranch. Fly fishing instructors Joe Kelly and Adrian Hall with Old Pueblo Chapter of Trout Unlimited. LeAnn and Pat Richards, Rick Weisberg and Pat Hoyt with San Pedro Flycasters. Of course we would like to thank our board members John Millican, Dave Kemnitz, Wayne Kaiser, Jessica Vannoy and Tom Deecken.
