Welcome to the NECO Foundation page. The site serves to fully inform you about all affairs and activities of our orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal. Nepal Children Orphan Home is home-style orphanage which began in the autumn of 2006 to serve destitute Nepalese orphans. The lovely property and most buildings used for the orphanage was donated by property owners Bishow Bhatta and John Snyder wh
o are unsalaried and the campus is donated rent-free, maintenance of which is not provided by donations. All donations go directly to the care of the children. We are not an orphanage just to feed destitute children. Our mission is much deeper and longer lasting, which hopefully not only benefits the individual child but, in the future and upon their graduation, their community and nation. The children are admonished not only to learn to resist the dictates of the ego in their own lives, but also to strive, with courage and humility, to reverse the tendencies of a culture that glorifies self-gratification and erodes the foundations of solidarity. A pivotal concept at NECO Home is refinement of each child's inner character and service to humanity by attending to both their spiritual and intellectual growth and in the end to contribute to the transformation of Nepali society. We believe that the family unit is the nucleus of human society, yet our children have none. So we are here to fill that gap. We attempt to develop and maintain the bonds of love, the constant expression to the truth that the well-being of the individual is inextricably bound to the progress and well-being of others in their communities. Balanced, healthy and strong communities must be comprised of individuals who understand and are educated, ethically and intellectually, in order to participate and apply the principles needed in this transformation. Regular financial support is needed to achieve all our targeted goals. Please, join with us to ensure that these children will continue to have food, housing, clothing, medical and dental care, and an English-medium education to bring them out of the poverty in which they came.
