THAT’S A WRAP! The VEX Robotics Middle School World Championship is OVER and it was an incredible experience for Henryville Robotics!
A lot of ups and downs, but most importantly an eye-opening opportunity for our teams. We had people from at least 32 countries stop by our pit and trade swag or drop a pin on our world map this weekend. We didn’t all speak the same language, we didn’t all travel the same distance, or have the same resources, but our kids were able to connect with teams from all over the globe around a common interest. The season started with over 3,000 middle school teams, leading to this weekend where almost 600 of the top teams in the world competed in over 2,300 matches before World Champions were crowned and next year’s game was revealed.
We are incredibly blessed by the outpouring of support from our sponsors, our community, and a lot of new followers on social media!
Day 3 Recap:
The rope drop this morning was pretty intense, reminiscent of Days of Thunder!
Luckily, America’s Center Convention Complex is a designated shelter-in-place building , as we went under tornado warnings twice today without missing a beat! You could definitely tell who the midwestern teams were when the weather alerts started sounding on every phone in the convention center.
Team A went 1-1 in qualification matches today taking their overall record to 3-7, finishing 67th in the Math Division (5th toughest out of 7 divisions). They also increased their Skills score to finish 221st for the weekend.
Team C also went 1-1 in qualification matches today taking their overall record to 4-6, finishing 54th in the Spirit Division (2nd toughest out of 7 divisions). They also made a jump with their Skills score, finishing the weekend ranked 174th.
Henryville Robotics also made the Jumbotron at Closing Ceremony!
Not a bad run for our second year VEX V5 program!
Now we can turn our attention to Team 12022C who is competing in the VEX IQ World Championship April 28-30 here in St. Louis!
