What a great role model he is for those girls who may or may not have a positive role model in their lives…this is the reason my husband started having me register him as a volunteer…and this next year or so, not only will we have Granddaughters in our troops (I have 2 troops-older girls and younger girls) but also Great-Granddaughters…they will be 6th generation Girl Scouts…all because my Mom
and her sisters wanted to be in Girl Scouts when they were young…🥰💕🥰
Mike is the troop leader and troop product manager for Girl Scout Troop 10473, as well as the Service Unit Product Manager for Service Unit 10. When asked about his experience as a Girl Scout volunteer Mike says, “The stereotype of a Girl Scout troop leader is a mom with a minivan. I'm a grandfather with a minivan, and I didn't buy that minivan until I turned 50. I did not participate in Girl Scouts or any other scouting organization as a father. So I started this at 50. It's been, you know, an amazing journey all the way through…it's the opportunity to be a part of my granddaughter's life for a relatively minimal investment of time at the troop leader level. I get to see her grow up, I get to see her make decisions. I get to see her become emboldened to make friendships. It's time that a lot of grandparents don't get to enjoy with their grandchildren. You see them at holidays, maybe you go to a school play, um, maybe you babysit once in a while, but this is empowering. The girls get to do something and I get to watch them bloom. So this is, this is where it's at.” Thank you Mike for being an incredible volunteer for all the girls in your troop and your service unit!
