The Henry Rotary Club is excited to announce that for the sixth year the club received a district grant from The Rotary Foundation. The focus of these grants is to help fund local projects that focus on clean environment, support education, and alleviate poverty.
The 2026 grant from The Rotary Foundation was $1,266 and the Henry Rotary Club matched the $1,266 as a requirement to receive the funds. The local club decided how to use the district grant by identifying a local project that addresses one or more of The Rotary Foundation focus areas.
The club identified the Family and Consumer Science classroom in the new Henry-Senachwine High School as the recipient of the 2026 Rotary Grant. This particular project met two of the Rotary Foundation focus areas – mother and child, and education.
The club worked with members of the Henry-Senachwine CUD5 board of education and Family and Consumer Science faculty member, Izabelle Schoepke, to address the need for a new washer/dryer set and dishwasher for the Family Consumer Science classroom. Ms. Schoepke researched the brands of appliances and the cost for each of these pieces of equipment. The equipment was ordered in mid August and installed during the week of August 24.2026.
The Henry Rotary Club is pleased to be able to contribute to our community with these grants. Previous grants funds were used for a commercial-grade freezer for the Henry Food Pantry, five hardwood trees at the new park at Indian Town Homes, equipment/supplies for the Family Consumer Science Program at the Henry-Senachwine High School, educational supplies for the special education department at the Henry-Senachwine Elementary School, and playground equipment for the Little Sprouts Enrichment Center on North Street in Henry, IL.
The club will soon begin the process to identify a need that meets The Rotary Foundation criteria and again apply for a grant in the spring of 2027 to be used in our community.
