At 9:35 pm tonite Joy VFD was toned to a grass fire at Sears Mayfield Rd and Old Joy Shannon Rd. This was a lightning start and with the help of cooperators from Bluegrove VFD, Vashti VFD, and Windthorst VFD this fire was held to approximately 50 acres. Good work by all involved and thank you to all of our neighbors who helped out. A special shout out to Clay County EMC Kieth Burch for his assistance and guidance. There are several large brush piles that will continue to smolder and burn for the next couple days. They will put off smoke and a glow at night. However, if you think you see a fire that needs to be checked in, don’t hesitate to call 911.

Here’s a picture of 801 1/2, the junior chief Christopher Lane Fuller, riding in the parade today for Pioneer Reunion. Little man had a blast!!!!

So yesterday was the kickoff to pioneer reunion locally, it was also a busy day for Joy VFD. We answered three calls for assistance yesterday. We went to a car fire on the west corner of the county, a possible house fire ( thankfully it wasn’t ) in Buffalo Springs, and a hay fire by Miller Shores. Y’all have a good time at pioneer reunion this weekend and if you need help feel free to call 911 and we will be there. Thank you always for your support.

Good Morning Yall, at approximately 9:50 pm Joy VFD was toned out to scaling road for a fast moving grass fire. With help from Bluegrove VFD Clay Cty Emergency Management Office, Windthorst VFD, and Scotland VFD this fire was held to approximately 30 acres. Then Clay Cty Precinct 3 brought out a maintainer to cut a fire break around the fire. Thank yall to all of our cooperators, in county and out.

At approximately 1:20 this afternoon Joy VFD was toned out to a grass fire, started by lightning, off of FM 174. Thanks to a very quick response and better weather conditions the fire was held to less than 5 acres. We would like to thank Bluegrove VFD, Windthorst VFD, Vashti VFD, Kieth Burch, and Jayson Castle for all of their help. While the weather has improved and we have gotten some moisture, continue to pray for rain.

Good morning all, your Joy VFD responded to a structure fire late last night in Buffalo Springs along with Bluegrove VFD, Vashti VFD, Bellevue VFD, Windthorst VFD, and Clay County Emergency Manager Kieth Burch, Clay County EMT’s, and the Clay County Sheriffs Dept. We would like to thank everyone that responded. Joy VFD and Bluegrove VFD also responded to a grass fire at Raht Rd and Hicks Rd first thing this morning. There was a great response and it was stopped quickly. Please be careful outside, it is extremely dry and does not need wind to turn into an inferno at this point. Keep your local firefighters in mind and pray for rain.
