The public is being invited to honor a United States Marine Corps veteran who will be laid to rest in an unaccompanied veteran burial ceremony this Friday.

Private First Class Jack Alexis Shaffer will be honored Friday, October 16, 2026, at 10 a.m. at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.

The Veterans Land Board is asking the community to attend and help ensure this veteran receives the respect and military honors he deserves.

The cemetery is located at 2520 South Inspiration Road in Mission, Texas.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and help honor PFC Shaffer’s service to our nation.

We have an MIA finally returning home. On October 19th he will arrive at DFW airport and will be es**rted by Legion Riders to the Funeral home. October 21st will be visitation at Slay Funeral Home then on October 22nd there will be a funeral service for him followed by an es**rt to the cemetery in Pilot Point.

Please join me and other first responders at 7:30 a.m. on 9-11-2026 , Thursday, as we walk around the track at the football field in remembrance of those who lost their lives.
