What happens when students, businesses, and community organizations come together around a shared goal?

A challenge inside the Twelve Loaves Food Pantry sparked an innovative partnership between Venture Compassionate Ministries, the Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering Technology Department at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), and Wegmans — resulting in the creation of the “Step Friendly Shopping Cart.”

Designed to help volunteers safely navigate a difficult curb while assisting pantry guests, this project became about far more than engineering. It became a story of collaboration, accessibility, dignity, and loving our neighbors well.

A quick heads-up
Please note: We will be CLOSED next week - from March 29 - April 5th. We will reopen on Wednesday April 8th at 10am.

A few friendly food pantry pro tips from us to you 😉

🕙 Doors open at 10:00 AM
Arriving early doesn’t unlock secret bonus points or early entry. In fact, 10:00–11:00 AM is usually our busiest time. If you show up early, we ask that you hang out in your car until the doors open at 10am.

🕦 Want the shortest wait?
Try arriving after 11:30 AM/11:45 AM Many days, you’ll likely experience shorter wait times.

🚨 Important reminder
Please arrive before 12:40 PM. That’s when we close our doors to the last guest...and we don’t want to miss you.

👜 Bag it up
Reusable bags are always appreciated and loved by our volunteers. Forgot yours? No worries...we’ve got a few backups just in case.

Snow, cold, and gloomy weather couldn’t stop this crew! ❄️💪

More than 40 amazing volunteers gathered for our Annual Twelve Loaves Food Pantry Volunteer Summit for learning, laughter, warm food and drinks, and rich fellowship. Together, we celebrated the impact of the past year and dreamed forward into the year ahead.

Deep gratitude to the many volunteers....both front-line and behind-the-scenes...who show up week after week to love our neighbors.
