You aren’t feeling well. Your symptoms are confusing. Could you have celiac disease or gluten sensitivity? How exactly do you find out?

We’ve brought together a dynamic panel that includes a gastroenterologist, a naturopath, and a functional nutritionist to answer your questions!

Know someone who should be tested for celiac disease but doesn’t know what to do next? Share this virtual event with them.

This event can also help you better support someone you know who is looking into getting tested.

WHAT: Getting a Celiac Disease or Gluten Sensitivity Diagnosis
WHEN: Tuesday, October 19 at 5:00pm PT/8:00pm ET

SIGN UP TO ATTEND THIS FREE VIRTUAL EVENT!

https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMtdeCppjspHdCSl4YEF5i_U6WwCAv4zn0z

PANELISTS:

• Peter HR Green, MD — Phyllis & Ivan Seidenberg Professor of Medicine Director, Celiac Disease Center at Columbia University

• Dr. Kelly Baker, ND, L.Ac. — Naturopathic Doctor

• Nour Zibdeh, MS, RDN — Integrative & Functional Nutritionist

This virtual event takes the mystery out of getting tested for gluten-related disorders, including signs and symptoms to look out for and what kinds of tests are needed to receive a diagnosis. Also learn why you should not go on a gluten-free diet before getting tested.

Sign up to attend — and even if you can’t attend, you’ll still receive a recording the following week!

Here’s just a few things you'll learn at this event:

1. What factors need to be in place to get a diagnosis
2. What blood tests you need and what will they tell you
3. What an endoscopy is and what it shows
4. What happens once you are diagnosed

This virtual event will be co-moderated by Lola O'Rourke, MS, RDN, GIG’s Education Coordinator (who has been gluten-free for over 20 years), and Aliza Sherman, GIG Communications Specialist (who has non-celiac gluten sensitivity).

WHAT: Getting a Celiac Disease or Gluten Sensitivity Diagnosis
WHEN: Tuesday, October 19 at 5:00pm PT/8:00pm ET

This session is ideal for anyone who:

• has a family history of celiac disease but has not been diagnosed.
• is experiencing symptoms that could be signs of celiac disease or gluten sensitivity and is not sure of steps they can take to find out.
• went gluten-free without getting diagnosed and is now wondering: “Should I get tested for celiac disease?”

If you know someone who could use clear explanations about getting accurately diagnosed, please get this information to them!

Anyone can join the zoom meeting at 8PM without registering by copying and pasting the following link:

The Food Labeling Modernization Act of 2021 (FLMA)

The Food Labeling Modernization Act of 2021 (FLMA) is a game-changer for everyone living gluten free!

ACT TODAY to show support for this legislation
by urging your US congressional representatives to pass FLMA.

What will the FLMA do?

The FLMA 2021 will help people who are living gluten-free and reading food labels that are
currently confusing or misleading.

Through the FLMA, manufacturers will be required to identify any gluten-containing grains used to
produce every ingredient on a product’s ingredient list. That means that in addition to wheat (an
allergen), barley and rye (grains that contain gluten but are not considered “allergens” by the
FDA) must appear on food labels.

For additional information copy and paste
https://gluten.org/2021/08/05/the-important-bill-that-changes-gluten-free-food-labels/

How YOU can help support this bill:

Encourage your congress members to pass the Food Labeling Modernization Act of 2021

(FLMA). It’s Easy!!
1.Simply copy and paste https://actionnetwork.org/letters/please-support-the-food-labelingmodernization-act-of-2021-to-improve-gluten-free-labeling?source=direct_link to go to Action
Network.

2.Complete the form which will direct you to your U.S. House and Senate members.

3.Submit the letter provided or take a moment to make it your own (personalized letters are always
best).

Special thanks to the Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) as well as Celiac Disease
Foundation; Beyond Celiac; Gluten Free Watchdog, LLC; and the National Celiac Association for
joining together to support the FLMA Bill!

Thank you for your participation and support!
