One of our most rewarding programs is to present scholarships to graduating varsity tennis players at four Henderson County high schools. We are grateful for the Henderson County Education Foundation for its partnership in selecting the scholarship winners. Congratulations to these four remarkable young people! All the best to them as they pursue their dreams!

MAY IS NATIONAL TENNIS MONTH!

And we're reposting the photo of our President, Lynn Gilpin, holding the proclamations that were passed in 2024 by the Henderson County Board of Commissioners and the Hendersonville City Council declaring May as National Tennis Month in our communities. And yes, Lynn is so talented, she can be in two places at once!

Check out our website for our kids and youth programs for spring and summer. Get your children registered now; space is limited!

U.S. TENNIS ASSOCIATION AWARDS $305,000 IN HELPING FUND NEW TENNIS COURTS IN HENDERSON COUNTY!

Henderson County has been developing a new state-of-the-art, 40-acre, $12 million Sports Complex in Berkeley Park, with completion expected this fall. This complex will include four regulation soccer fields, a softball field and SIX TENNIS COURTS lined for both adults and youth play. This new complex will also include the historic Berkeley Mills Baseball Stadium.

The $305,000 figure is based on a $200,000 grant from National USTA, plus an additional $100,000 from the Southern USTA, and another $5,000 grant from North Carolina USTA. These grants will help fund lighting for the tennis courts so that play can continue into the evenings. Note: teams from Hendersonville High School will have designated times to utilize the park's facilities, but the public will have ready access when not being used by the school.

Photos show excerpts of the National USTA letter to Bruce Gilliam, Director of Henderson County Parks and Recreation, and the projected appearance of the finished complex. The Community Tennis Association assisted in making the connections between our county and the USTA to make these three grants possible. We're thrilled that there will be more tennis playing options in our county!

Thanks to all who participated in our Red Ball Tennis Event as the kickoff for our Thirsty Thursday adult tennis season, led by our pro, Nicole, and five CTA Board Members. The top photo shows those who joined afterwards at Oklawaha Brewing Co. where we enjoyed great food provided by the CTA (from Monte's Deli). The bottom photo shows three of our five prize winners: Josh and Aaron (Top Scorers) and Lily (Most Improved). Other prize winners were: Dakota (Best Dressed) and Mike (Best Effort). Watch for another adult Red Ball Tennis Event in May when we celebrate National Tennis Month. Let's Tennis!
