Happy belated 6th birthday to Sukey! Sukey has been a member of CTP-WNC for 3 years now and she has logged 100's of hours between visits to UNC Health Pardee, Asheville Regional Airport, and other community events. She is a super star therapy dog 🌟🐾 we hope she is chasing all the squirrels and tennis balls this week!

Please help us wish Rainey the happiest 13th birthday and well wishes on his recent retirement! Rainey has been volunteering since he was a young pup at local schools and libraries, from California to North Carolina! He has been a member of Canine Therapy Parters -WNC for 2 years and immediately stole our, and our communities, hearts. He will be dearly missed at the Fletcher Library Henderson County, NC Library and the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County. There are some big paw steps to fill! Rainey, we hope you get all the belly rubs and your favorite snacks (Old Mother Hubbard's Biscuit's) today! 🐾🦴🎉🩵

Check out our PAWS for Reading October schedule at several of the Henderson County, NC Library locations, Polk County Public Libraries, and at the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson County.

Our programs mission is to reach out to children in the community to provide a positive reading environment between a reluctant or new reader and a therapy dog team for the purpose of promoting the enjoyment and confidence of reading on their own.

Call or stop by one of the libraries listed below to register for a 15-minute reading session with a therapy dog.

A few weeks ago, our teams were invited by Henderson County 4-H Barnyard Bandits to be apart of a club meeting to kick off their new service project. The children were learning the difference between therapy dogs and service dogs. Our dogs were able to show them first hand what therapy dog work is all about. It was a lovely time and we look forward to the opportunity to visit a club meeting again 🐾🍀

Walter enjoying his time at the Camp Bluebird retreat last weekend. Camp Bluebird is an annual retreat for cancer survivors held at the Bonclarken Conference Center in Flat Rock. Members of team always enjoy visiting with the campers and organizers.

Amari, Chester, and Lachiwe spent last Friday at Brevard Middle School visiting with students and teachers before the end of year EOG testing. We are not sure who was happier to see who; the students to see the pups in their classrooms, or our dogs to see smiling faces and receive lots of head pets. A good time was had by all at Brevard Middle School.

"Voice of the Students hosted “Destress with Dogs” at Brevard Middle School, giving students a chance to relax, reset, and feel supported before EOG testing week.
Voice of the Students is a student-led organization in Transylvania County Schools, supported by SparkPoint, CARE Coalition- Transylvania, and TC Strong. Their work helps lift up student voice, mental wellness, peer support, and real moments of connection."
