This time of year hits hard.
The anniversary of Abbey Gate and the Afghanistan withdrawal is here. For too many in the and communities, it’s not just a date on the calendar—it’s a trigger. The memories, the loss, the questions that still don’t have good answers. It can weigh heavy.
So this is the call:
Do the Buddy Check.
Make the time. Send the text. Make the call. Show up. Ask the real questions. Don’t wait for someone else to do it.
No excuses.
Busy isn’t a reason. Awkward isn’t a reason. “They seem fine” isn’t a reason. We know better.
We do this together.
No one fights the hard days alone.
Stay close. Check on your people. Let your people check on you.
If you’re carrying it this weekend—reach out. If you know someone who might be—reach first.

We’re still here. We look out for our own.

Needed: practical, travel-friendly items that work well in bulk (hygiene products, snacks, socks, hand warmers, cards, etc.).

Today, we recognize National Airborne Day and honor the courage, skill and dedication of our nation’s airborne forces.

From the first official Army parachute jump in 1940 to generations of Airborne Veterans who followed, these service members have answered the call with a willingness to go where needed, often under the most challenging conditions.

To all Airborne Veterans, past and present, thank you for your service and sacrifice.
