624 days after Hurricane Helene changed so much across Western North Carolina, there are finally more reasons to celebrate than ever. One of those victories happened this week as Broadmoor Golf Links officially reopened after the course was devastated by the storm and considered a total loss.

What once looked impossible is now a reality thanks to countless hours of hard work, determination, and a community that refused to give up. Seeing golfers back on the course is more than just a reopening—it's another sign that WNC continues to rebuild, recover, and move forward.

Here's to the teams, volunteers, workers, and supporters who helped make this day possible. 💚⛳

BIG coffee news for Fletcher! ☕

Caribou Coffee is making its way to Fletcher, adding another exciting option for coffee lovers across Western North Carolina.

Founded in Minnesota in 1992, Caribou Coffee built its reputation on premium coffee, handcrafted beverages, and a cozy, community-first atmosphere. Over the years, it has grown into one of the largest coffee chains in the country, serving millions of customers who are passionate about great coffee and great experiences.

And here's the thing...

Western North Carolina is going through a coffee revolution of sorts.

We've already got an incredible lineup of locally owned coffee shops, roasters, and cafés throughout Hendersonville, Fletcher, Asheville, and beyond. Now we're seeing major brands like Caribou Coffee and 7 Brew making their way to the mountains as well.

At this rate, WNC is about to have so many coffee options that "Coffee City USA" might just become one of our official titles!

Whether you're loyal to your favorite local spot or excited to try something new, one thing is certain: coffee lovers have never had it so good in Western North Carolina.

What do you think? Are you excited to see Caribou Coffee coming to Fletcher?

During a recent wine tour through Hendersonville, NC, one of our scheduled stops just wasn’t the vibe… so we made a last-minute change and ended up at Stone Ashe Vineyard & Winery completely by accident.

And honestly?
Best decision of the day.

Beautiful mountain views, award-winning wines, craft beer, amazing staff, and that rustic lodge-style atmosphere.

Stone Ashe turned out to be one of our favorite winery experiences in Western North Carolina, definitely heading back there soon!

Western North Carolina Weather Update — Asheville & Surrounding Areas

Wednesday, May 27, 2026 | Latest Conditions From The Past Few Hours

Heavy rain and flooding continue to impact parts of Asheville and Western North Carolina this morning after several rounds of overnight thunderstorms moved across the region. Local reports indicate some communities have received up to 8 inches of rainfall, especially in areas from Fairview toward Lake Lure. Flooding, road washouts, and rising creeks have already been reported in portions of Buncombe, Henderson, and Transylvania counties.

Current conditions in Asheville as of the latest National Weather Service update:

Temperature: 69°F
Light rain continuing
Humidity: 93%
Winds: South at 5 mph
Visibility remains reduced in heavier showers.

Emergency crews are monitoring multiple problem areas this morning, including:

Flooded secondary roads
Washed-out sections near the Henderson County line
Rapid rises along small creeks and streams
Ponding water in low-lying urban areas.

The atmosphere remains very saturated, meaning additional showers and thunderstorms this afternoon could quickly worsen flooding conditions. Forecasters say any heavier downpour may trigger new flash flooding with little warning.

Areas Seeing The Greatest Impacts
Asheville
Fairview
Swannanoa
Hendersonville
Gerton
Lake Lure
Portions of Transylvania County

Travel Concerns

Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and washed-out areas. Several back roads and mountain routes remain hazardous due to debris, standing water, and unstable shoulders. Officials continue reminding residents:

“Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”

Forecast Through Today
More scattered thunderstorms expected
High near 77°F
Additional localized heavy rainfall possible

Western North Carolina is once again on edge tonight.

Flash flooding reports are coming in from Hendersonville, Fletcher, Bat Cave, Chimney Rock, and surrounding mountain communities as relentless rain pounds an area still recovering from Hurricane Helene.

Bearwallow Mountain Road is reportedly becoming impassable in areas. Gerton Fire Department is urging residents to stay off the roads. Rivers are roaring through Bat Cave, and many in Asheville are now watching Biltmore Village closely, fearing what could happen if the rain continues.

This isn’t just another storm here — it’s reopening wounds many communities never fully healed from.

We break down what’s happening across the region, what officials are warning about, and important safety tips for residents tonight.
