What is the AARST Consortium on National Standards?
The AARST Consortium on National Standards is the formal standards-development body administered by AARST, a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization. The Consortium provides the structured, transparent forum where national consensus standards are created, reviewed, and maintained.
Through this program, diverse stakeholders—including radon and mitigation professionals, researchers, manufacturers, regulators, and public health experts—work together to develop ANSI-recognized standards that guide:
Radon measurement in existing buildings
Soil gas mitigation in existing buildings
Soil gas control and radon-resistant construction in new buildings
These standards are not theoretical. They are built on science, field experience, and ongoing public input, and they are routinely updated to reflect advances in technology, research, and best practices. This consensus-driven process is what gives ANSI/AARST standards their credibility and broad acceptance across the industry.
As part of supporting informed, professional practice, members of the Indoor Environments Association (IEA) receive **full access to all ANSI / AARST standards, including:
Fully searchable PDF files
Download and print privileges
Access beyond basic flipbook viewing
These standards form the foundation of quality, consistency, and public trust in radon and soil gas work nationwide.
