Sgt. S. Matthew Baynard Foundation

Sgt. S. Matthew Baynard Foundation The Sgt. S. Matthew Baynard Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to funding athletic opportunities and training for children and young adults. Sgt.

Matthew Baynard Foundation was established in 2013 to promote the advancement of amateur athletics. We provide financial assistance to young athletes who otherwise would not be able to participate in sports. We also provide baseball, football and soccer cleats, wrestling shoes and sports equipment to both individual athletes and to school teams in need. Matthew Baynard died suddenly on July 22, 20

12 from complications stemming from injuries he suffered during deployment in Iraq, serving with the Army, but was not deployed at the time of his death. Matt served in C Co., 3-38 ABN, 201st LRS, stationed at JBLM in Washington. Matt played baseball, football and wrestled as a kid. He was on the NC National Wrestling team for 3 consecutive years and a 10 year member of Strong & Courageous Wrestling Club. He was a 2 time Freestyle State Champion, a 3 time Greco State Champion and a 5 time All American wrestler. Before the Army, Matt had plans to wrestle in the Olympics. He was an avid body builder and was training in Brazilian Ju Jistu at the time of his death. Matt planned to get his degree in Personal Training and open a gym in his hometown of Naples NC upon his medical discharge from the Army. He wanted to create a permanent home for Strong & Courageous Wrestling Club and open up the world of youth sports and training to all kids, not just those who could afford it. Matthew Baynard Foundation is our way of seeing Matt's dream come true and helping kids gets the training, equipment, mentoring and support they need to excel in all areas of athletics. Please consider donating to the dream!! http://www.SgtSMBfoundation.com

We have several proposed schedule changes to introduce, that will begin in March. The division of groups helps us to cater better to your child's ability and attention span. ALL wrestlers must have a USA card, as well as ALL coaches working in the room. If you cannot afford the USA card, let us know privately, and we are more than happy to help. We have a suggested donation amount, not required, just suggested. We will not send invoices. We will not keep track of who pays what. If you are able to, we request that you donate by PayPal at [email protected] or venmo at . Cash and checks are accepted also.
~FUNDAMENTALS is a beginner class, separated by age group, 4-6 years old and 7-10 years old. The suggested donation for this group is $40/month.
4-6 yrs:
Mon 5-545p
Wed 9-930a
Wed 5-545p
7-10 yrs:
Mon 545-645p
Wed 545-645p
~COMPETITION is a class for those who are already competing in events. Coaches will recommend the advancement from FUNDAMENTALS to COMPETITION. The suggested donation for this group is $40/month.
Mon 645-815p
Tue 530-630p
Wed 645-815p
Sun 5-630p
~ELITE is for our kids with more experience that can advance quickly. The ELITE group is also by coach recommendation. There is no cost for this program
~MOMMY & ME is divided by age group, 12-24 months, 2-3 years old, 3-4 years old. This is a age appropriate developmental system for mother and child to learn movement. This is open to the public and is a suggested donation of $40/month.
12-24mths: Tue 9-930a
2-3yrs: Tue 940-1010a
3-4yrs: Tue 1020-1050a
~ADULTS is anyone out of high school, not competing in Spring & Summer events this year. This is a $20 suggested monthly fee. There is also a beginner's ADULT yoga class.
Wed: 1030-1115a beginner yoga
Sun: 3-5pm adult wrestling
~OPEN MAT is an option for anyone, any age, from any school or club. This may turn into Friday Night Fights, with enough participation. There is no cost.
Fri: 730-845p
~GIRLS ONLY will be held for all ages on Fri 6-730p. If we have enough interest, we will add additional days

All of that being said, we are the same group, teaching the same things, just better divided into skill level and attention span to be able to get the most out of your sessions, If you have any questions, feel free to let us know. We are happy with the growth and with growth comes changes. No more rooms of 30 kids, at different levels, trying to practice. We want to create an environment where every wrestler receives the time and attention that they need and ultimately parents that are happy with the outcome. We will also still offer private sessions. We would love to begin the new schedule in March.
