Literacy Council of Middle Tennessee

Literacy Council of Middle Tennessee LCMT provides free one-on-one tutoring and counseling to adults and children. Our goal is to enhance academic skills in all areas.

Our dedicated volunteer tutors have helped thousands of Middle Tennessee residents- from children to adults- improve their reading and math skills; get better grades; earn their high school diplomas; and ultimately have more career opportunities. We can address existing reading, math and GED/HiSET needs for students of all ages. LCMT also partners with the First Baptist Church of Hendersonville to

provide English-as-a-second language services to our community's non-native speakers. LCMT is also dedicated to the early academic success of local students. Our new COVER program (Community Offered Volunteer Education Resources) provides extra attention to K and 1st-grade students with specific teacher-identified needs. We have already been able to help over 150 local students a week, and we have plans to more than triple our impact in the 2016-2017 school year! LCMT has been a part of the Middle Tennessee community for over 30 years, previously as The Literacy Council of Sumner County.
