Hey friends! It’s our favorite time of the year!!!!
Joni and Friends Family Retreat at Bonclarken in Flat Rock, NC!
Yay!!!!😀 This is a fun event where we serve shaved ice, pop corn, cotton candy and funnel cakes to families affected by disabilities.

Anyone can volunteer including children as long as they have a responsible adult with them. It’s a great family outreach opportunity!

This is one of the most difficult events to get volunteers for as it is during the day on week days.

So if you have a flexible schedule, we still need volunteers for these days…

Wednesday, August 6
Thursday, August 7
Wednesday, August 13

Time 12:30-5 (set up and clean up time included)

Please send a private message or comment below if you can help any of those days. Please share this if you know someone who might be able to help as well! Blessings!

Work in Bat Cave… a friend’s home and storage shed were totally picked up and moved by the flood waters. The home was a total loss so Bill spent several days on demo and debris clean up down there. Pictures don’t even begin to show the devastation in this entire community. I (Traci) went to help one day and was overwhelmed with the destruction of roads, homes, the river itself…. The water was moving so far and hard that it took all of the silt and unearthed enormous boulders that were in the river bed and even carved deep into the earth, drastically widening the river bed. Now the water level is back to normal, there is bare rock exposed where the flood waters raged. Our friend lost probably an acre of his property…washed away.

This is all done at no cost to those we help and Bill often has to miss his own work to help people, especially since the time change and there is less daylight. He is also using his equipment and resources to help. Please consider making a donation to help us continue to offer our services for free to those in need. There is so much clean up still to do.

Bill was able to continue clearing for a driveway for our friend whose precious driveway was washed away. Lots of time on the digger for Bill. All of this work has been donated and Bill has spent many days away from his shop to help. As a non-profit ministry, we are operating solely on donations. We’d be so grateful if you feel led to support us financially and partner with us even miles away to continue the recovery from Hurricane Helene. Please message for donation information.

Bill, Clay and Seven have been helping a friend whose entire driveway slid down the mountain.

They’ve been cutting down trees and moving debris to make a new driveway.

Red circle is a person

Erin and Ralph’s home got a wash down and we also helped clean up log debris that had washed onto their property from the flooding of Helene. The inside of their home is currently gutted and drying out. Please pray for them, that God will provide all they need to rebuild.

Bill was able to power wash at a local small business to help the owner clean up after his only source of income was flooded. The silt from the flooding is very difficult to fully remove due to its fine texture. Many of this man’s equipment, tools and supplies were destroyed. Some things had been washed out of his building and he had to go hunt for them in the surrounding fields. Praying he is able to reopen soon!

Helene disaster relief…

Thanks to FISH and our kind donors, we’ve been able to remove some fallen trees for folks as well as help clear some mudslide debris.

Tomorrow Bill and Pop are going to help pressure wash a local business owner’s building whose sole source of income was flooded.

Donations are tax deductible and will be used to assist in local Helene clean up efforts.

Financial Needs…donations to purchase fuel and supplies for heavy equipment, cleaning supplies, related tools and equipment, expenses for securing contract workers if needed to complete work for those in need that we are not qualified to do such as removing large trees off of homes and buildings.

Message us for ways to donate or if you’re interested in volunteering with us.
Blessings!

We are hearing about some unmet supply needs here for the elderly population. If these can be sent to us even through Amazon, brought in person or meet us in Hendersonville, that would be great. Message me for the mailing address. When I can get a few minutes I’ll try to make an Amazon wish list. Or you can send a donation to FISH and get a tax deduction and we can buy the supplies.

Ensure, Boost, nutrition supplement/meal replacement type drinks to provide high calorie intake

Depends/adult continence supplies, bed pads, etc.

Also, we can do well checks and supply deliveries in most places Henderson and Transylvania County. We do have 4WD vehicles if needed. Please pass this along and share any names of folks who need deliveries or check ins.

Due to the flooding and destruction caused by Hurricane Helene in our hometown of Hendersonville, NC and surrounding areas, we sense God directing us to add a branch of ministry to FISH to include disaster relief, clean up and related services. This is just another way we can reach out to those in need with the love of Jesus.

Our board has voted and agrees on this decision.

FISH will be in need of financial donations in order to conduct this outreach.

Currently FISH has been so small we just take checks or cash donations but we will be expanding to be able to take electronic methods of donation soon.

Another way to give is ask your bank if they have a bill pay option (it’s on many bank apps as well) and they send a check from the bank directly to FISH). Some of our donors use that service. It can be set up as an ongoing monthly donation as well so one less thing to remember!

If you feel led to donate to kick start this work, checks can be made out to FISH and mailed to 250 Chattooga Run, Hendersonville, NC 28739. As a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your gift is tax deductible.

Please feel free to share this post as I know many people want to help from far away but don’t know how to help. This is a great opportunity for them to have a part in helping our community.

Blessings and thank you in advance! We will be sharing more soon! (Traci Beal Allen)
