What if one of the biggest leadership mistakes churches make is confusing filling spots with developing people?

When someone says, “I want to make a difference for Christ,” our first instinct is often to think about where we have a need. Nursery. Greeters. Parking lot. Small group.

But what if the better question is:
How has God uniquely gifted this person, and how can we help them flourish?

Churches don't experience disciple-making movements by simply filling volunteer schedules. Rather, they happen when we help people discover their calling, develop their gifts, and use them for the Kingdom.

The difference is subtle but significant.

Are we building ministries around organizational needs, or are we helping people step into their God-given potential?

📖 Movement-Ready Church challenges leaders to rethink common assumptions about discipleship, leadership development, church growth, and volunteer engagement. Visit MovementReadyChurch.com to learn more or get your copy today!

Healthy disciple-making culture doesn’t happen accidentally.

It’s shaped through intentional leadership, honest conversations, aligned systems, and leaders willing to prayerfully discern the future together.

That’s why we created Movement-Ready Training Day: an on-site experience where a certified Replicate Navigator comes directly to your church to guide your leadership team through the Movement-Ready framework in your unique context.

This isn’t just another training event.

It’s an opportunity for your team to step away from the normal pace of ministry long enough to ask important questions together:

• What’s actually helping discipleship flourish in our church?
• Where might misalignment be slowing momentum?
• How do we move from activity to transformation?
• What would it look like to build a healthier disciple-making culture over time?

In this carousel, we answered a few of the questions pastors and leaders have been asking us most often about Movement-Ready Training Day.

And if you’d like to explore whether this experience could serve your church well, we’d love to start a conversation.

Why do so many churches struggle to develop leaders who actually multiply?

In today’s episode of the Making Disciples Podcast, Jeremy Smith and Vick Green unpack one of the biggest paradigm shifts for churches: the difference between teaching people more information and actually training them to make disciples.

One pastor in the episode even admitted he originally hated Replicate’s D-Group model because it felt “too simple”… until it became the most effective leadership development tool he’d ever used. 😂

This conversation dives into:
▫️What we often overcomplicate
▫️The difference between teaching and training
▫️A practical 4-step process for developing leaders
▫️How intentional disciple-making environments create lasting multiplication in the church

If your church wants to move from gathering people to developing disciple-makers, this episode is for you.

Listen on YouTube, Apple, or Spotify!

That quote hits differently when you understand the context behind it.

Many churches are filled with faithful leaders, busy calendars, and well-executed events. But over time, it’s easy for excellence to become defined only by performance, production, and ex*****on.

The result? A small group of exhausted leaders carrying ministry while the rest of the church watches from the sidelines.

Movement-Ready Church challenges leaders to expand their definition of excellence.

Because Jesus didn’t call the church to simply run better events. He called us to equip people, develop disciples, and build a culture where multiplication can actually happen.

That’s one of the reasons the Movement-Ready Training Day is so valuable. A Replicate Navigator doesn’t come to hand your church a copy-and-paste model. They help your leadership team step back, evaluate your culture, align around disciple-making, and discover practical next steps for your unique context.

This book is full of paradigm shifts like this one. And the training day helps your team actually work them out together.

Okay, we admit we love some good light-hearted banter around here😂

Last year, we asked ChatGPT to roast some of our team. This year, we asked it to guess what they would be doing if they weren’t in ministry… and the results were honestly hilarious (and occasionally a little too accurate).

All jokes aside, we sure do love these people. Ministry with a tribe like this is a genuine gift. We’re grateful for each person on this team (including those we haven’t gotten around to roasting yet) and the way they faithfully serve churches and leaders every day.

Many churches are working hard. The calendar is full. Ministries are active. Staffs are busy. But many pastors and church leaders quietly feel the tension of asking:
“Are we truly making disciples with clarity and intentionality?”

Some churches feel burned out. Others feel stalled out. Many simply feel busy and programmed out.

And many faithful leaders sense there could be a healthier, more practical way forward.

That’s why we created Movement-Ready Training Day.

Movement-Ready Training Day is a one-day, on-site experience where a certified Replicate Navigator comes directly to your church campus to lead your pastors and leadership team through the Movement-Ready Church Framework.

Together, your team will work through practical conversations around:
• spiritual renewal: dependence on God, prayer, and Scripture,
• disciple-making culture: creating intentional rhythms that help people grow as disciples, not just attendees,
• and organizational clarity: helping your ministries, leaders, and systems move in the same direction around disciple-making.

This isn’t a copy-and-paste ministry model. Churches are too unique for that.

That’s why Movement-Ready helps your leaders assess YOUR unique culture, community, opportunities, and challenges so your team can pursue intentional next steps together.

And because these conversations are always most impactful in community, your pastors and leaders will work through the framework together around tables designed for thoughtful discussion, collaboration, and practical application.

Together, we’ll help your team:
✔ Clarify disciple-making priorities
✔ Assess your current culture
✔ Align leadership around shared language
✔ Identify a 1-year ministry objective
✔ Create practical next steps together

If your church is looking for healthier disciple-making culture and greater leadership clarity, we’d love to start with a conversation.

Never underestimate a Spirit-filled church.

In a culture that often measures success by size, it’s easy for pastors and leaders to wonder if their church is making a difference. But the Kingdom has never depended on large crowds; it has always moved through faithful people empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Whether your church is large or small, your faithfulness to God’s mission matters. Every conversation, every invitation, every act of discipleship, and every step of obedience creates space for God to work in powerful ways.

🎧 Check out today’s episode of the Making Disciples Podcast as Joe Horan shares the story of leading a merger between two vastly different churches and how vision, prayer, and disciple-making helped create a unified, thriving church. This conversation is full of practical wisdom for leaders navigating culture change and trying to reach people far from Jesus.

When Jesus determines the health of your church, he doesn’t count the Christians within; he weighs them.

Transformation is more important than activity. Activity is about what you do; transformation is about who you have become. Activity is an important metric to measure, but it is a means to a greater end. And when we make it an end in itself, it undercuts everything we are trying to accomplish.

The activity scoreboard isn’t wrong; it’s just incomplete. We need to change our scoreboard.

Movement-Ready Church by Robby Gallaty and Vick Green invites you and shows you practical steps you can take in your church to change that scoreboard. Visit MovementReadyChurch.com

Every church has unique opportunities, challenges, leadership dynamics, and community needs. That’s why we don’t believe healthy disciple-making comes from copy-and-paste ministry models.

We believe disciple-making movements in the church start with leaders intentionally gathering around Scripture, asking honest questions, and discerning together what God may uniquely be calling their church toward.

One of the greatest privileges of what we do is creating space for leadership teams to slow down long enough to evaluate honestly, dream intentionally, and pursue greater clarity together around the mission God has entrusted to them.
