No child should have to sleep on a couch in a DSS office because there was nowhere else to go.

But sometimes, that is the reality children in foster care face.

That’s why Heartprint Resources exists.

We’re working to make sure foster and kinship families have the support, resources, and practical help they need to say yes when a child needs a safe place to land.

Due to the incoming storm, we have made the decision to postpone our orchard outing to Saturday, October 24th to keep everyone safe.

Sit with that number for a moment.

Now imagine four children you know personally. Maybe they're your child's classmates, your neighbor's kids, your nieces, nephews, or the children sitting next to you at church on Sunday. Imagine those four children being told they can't go home tonight. Imagine them walking into a brand-new home, carrying only what they could fit into a bag—or sometimes nothing at all.

Imagine the fear, the confusion, and the uncertainty they must feel. Imagine leaving behind everything familiar and trying to make sense of a world that suddenly looks very different.

Behind every statistic is a child living this reality.

At Heartprint Resources, we believe every child deserves a safe place to land when life turns upside down. We work to ensure foster families have the support and resources they need so that children entering care are welcomed with dignity, comfort, and compassion.

Because these aren't just numbers on a map. They are children with stories, dreams, favorite colors, stuffed animals, and hopes for the future. They are children who deserve to know they are seen, valued, and loved.

And while 4.7 in 1,000 may look like a statistic, for thousands of North Carolina children, it's their story. ❤️

We keep bragging on WHHS FCCLA, but honestly… these kids give us so much hope for the future. ❤️

They’ve been busy loving on foster families in such meaningful ways—making meals for families, creating bracelets, and writing cards for children in care.

They give so generously of their time, creativity, and hearts, and it’s a beautiful reminder that kindness and compassion are being carried forward by the next generation.

WHHS FCCLA, we are so grateful for you! Thank you for showing up for our foster and kinship community and reminding us that small acts of kindness can leave a lasting Heartprint. ❤️

Today is the last day to sign up! Don't miss out.

Heartprint is headed to the orchard! 🍂🍎 We’re getting together for a fun family outing and would love for our foster and kinship families to join us!

A Heartprint volunteer will be there from 9:00–9:30 AM to hand out your apple-picking bucket so you can head out and pick your own apples!

🍎 Come enjoy a morning outside

🍎 Spend time with other Heartprint families

Important: Please make sure you are able to arrive by 9:30AM. We won’t be able to hold your spot if you arrive late, and you may miss your apple-picking basket.

PART 2️⃣: OUR RESOURCE CENTER ❤️

If you’ve ever wondered what happens inside the Heartprint Resource Center, this one’s for you.

It’s more than racks of clothes and shelves of supplies. It’s a place where foster and kinship families can find practical support—and where children get to choose things for themselves.

Every item here represents a community that has said, “We want to help.”

From clothing and shoes to diapers, baby supplies, hygiene items, pajamas, beds, and so much more, our Resource Center exists to meet families right where they are.

And it’s all made possible by the generosity of donors and the time of our volunteers.

"I got the call, and suddenly, everything changed.

A newborn baby was coming into my home.

There was no time to prepare. No carefully planned nursery. No tiny clothes folded into drawers. No diapers stacked on a shelf. No bottles waiting on the counter.

Just a baby who needed somewhere safe to land… and a brand-new caregiver trying to take a deep breath and figure out what came next.

I picked up a newborn with nothing.

And for a moment, I wondered how I was going to do this.

Because when a child enters care unexpectedly, there isn't always time to prepare for all the things a newborn needs. Sometimes, you simply say yes and figure out the rest as you go."

Thankfully, this caregiver didn't have to figure it out alone.

She came to Heartprint, and our community was ready to help provide the things she needed to welcome this tiny baby home.

Diapers. Clothing. Baby essentials. The things that suddenly become incredibly important when you have a newborn in your arms and nothing prepared at home.

But more than the things, she was reminded of something even more important:

"You are not alone."

She could focus on the baby.

On holding her.
On comforting her.
On learning her.
On letting her know she was safe.

And then there was that smile.

That big smile says so much.

It says, I've got this.

It says, She's going to be okay.

It says, We're going to be okay.

And maybe that's what we love most about this photo.

Not just the tiny baby in her arms.

Not just the bags of supplies.

But the moment this new caregiver realized she had a community standing behind her.

A community saying, “We see you. We see this baby. And we're here.”

Because sometimes showing up with the right things at the right moment can change everything.

It can turn fear into peace.

Overwhelmed into supported.

And “How am I going to do this?” into “Okay. We’re going to be okay.”

That smile?

That's the heart of Heartprint. ❤️
