IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE ANNUAL CEMETERY TOUR! Hurricane Isaias is threatening to rain on our spirits, and wet spirits belong in a saloon. We are moving the tour to Saturday, October 24th. Same hours, 4 until 8 PM. So put on your comfy clothes and listen to the rhythm of the rain on this Saturday. But save the date for the 24th

When Hugh Emma Ketring (also spelled Catron) married JW Latimer, two of Shackle Island's patriot descendants began a quiet and gentle farming life together. Ashleigh Calvert will portray Hugh Emma and tell us of Jonathan Latimer's contributions to the "American Cause". This Saturday, October 10th, 4-8 PM. We'll see y'all there!

Ladies, you do not want to miss Shannon Burgdorf tell the story of Amanda Matherly Honeycutt (also spelled Hunnicut). This one has it all- Gossip, Rumor and Innuendo with a bit of history mixed in! If your fellow won't tear himself away from those football games, come without him, but maybe buy a ticket for him. After all, this is a fund raiser! And you can get him a chili supper to go from Mother's Day Out's fund raiser. This Saturday, October 10, from 4 to 8 pm.

October 10th, the place to be in Shackle Island is the Beech Historic Cemetery annual tour! Your second stop on the tour will introduce you to John McMurtry, a Revolutionary War Vet who served in Washington's Continental Army. Chris Lauderdale will share more of Mr. McMurtry's story from 4-8PM.

This Saturday, October 10th is the big event in Shackle Island- the Beech Historic Cemetery Tour! The first story you will hear is told by Pastor Jeff DeWees. You will hear about William Montgomery, arguably one of the wealthiest men to live in Shackle Island during the early years. Mr. Montgomery was in the American Revolution at the tender age of 15. Come see us at 3216 Long Hollow Pike from 4-8 PM. There will also be a soup supper in the Christian Life Center, hosted by Beech Mother's Day Out. Stay tuned for the rest of the cast!

We are trying to make improvements to this year's tour. One complaint from last year was that some of our actors were very soft spoken. We are thinking that battery operated karaoke machines might be an option. If anyone has one of these we could borrow/test for success, please send a message!

Have you heard, it's America's 250th this year! We are trying to compile a list of Revolutionary War Veterans and Patriots buried at Beech Historic Cemetery. We are asking folks who have traced ancestry, perhaps by applying to SAR or DAR, to let us know if you have an ancestor with direct ties to the Revolutionary War who is buried here at "The Beech."
