Teamsters Nevada thanks the Nevada State AFL-CIO for standing in full solidarity with our brothers and sisters of Teamsters Local 631 on strike in Las Vegas. ✊
For three months, these workers have remained united at Rinker Quikrete, fighting to protect their healthcare, pensions, and the dignity every working family deserves.
We especially appreciate the leadership of Susie Martinez, executive secretary-treasurer of the Nevada State AFL-CIO, for speaking out and standing strong with our members during this fight.
This is what solidarity looks like in Nevada — unions standing together to protect workers and their families.
Teamsters stand united.
We stand in full solidarity with Teamsters Local 631 members in Las Vegas, who have been on strike for three months against Rinker Hydro Conduit and its parent company, Quikrete.
In December 2025, workers voted unanimously to strike after Rinker Quikrete proposed eliminating their union healthcare and pension. When the company failed to bargain in good faith, they took to the picket line on January 5 and have remained strong ever since. For three months, these workers have fought to protect what every working family deserves: quality healthcare, a secure retirement, and fair pay. This is not a minor dispute. It is a fight for dignity, stability, and the future of working families.
While these workers sacrifice, public reports show Rinker Quikrete’s CEO recently purchased an $8.2 million condo in Manhattan. At the same time, Rinker Quikrete is demanding workers give up the very benefits that protect their families. That is unacceptable.
The company’s so-called last, best, and final offer would replace union healthcare and pensions with inferior, company-backed plans that prioritize cost-cutting over long-term security. Workers unanimously rejected it.
We are especially moved by stories from the picket line, including members facing serious personal hardships while continuing to stand strong. As Brother Jose Lovos shared, this fight is about real lives, protecting access to lifesaving care and ensuring families are not forced to choose between their health and their livelihood.
Rinker Quikrete is highly profitable because of these workers. Instead of honoring that contribution, Rinker Quikrete continues to push concessions that would undermine a stable, skilled workforce.
“Let us be clear, we will not trade our families’ security for corporate profits. A Teamsters pension is a promise workers have earned, and it must be protected, not dismantled. We call on Rinker Quikrete to return to the bargaining table in good faith,” said Nevada State AFL-CIO Executive Secretary-Treasurer Susie Martinez.
“We thank these workers and their families for their sacrifice and courage. Their fight is not only for themselves, but for future generations. We urge all affiliates to stand with Teamsters Local 631, support the picket line, and amplify their fight,” said Nevada State AFL-CIO President Liz Sorenson.
After three months, the message is clear. These workers are not backing down, and neither are we. Rinker Quikrete must end its concessionary demands, return to the bargaining table, and negotiate a fair agreement in good faith.
