🌟 Employee Spotlight: Celestine Jones 🌟

Head start & Early head Start is proud to recognize Ms. Celestine Jones for her dedicated service and lasting impact on the children and families of our Head Start program.

Ms. Jones began her journey with Head Start in January 2005 at the Henderson Center. Throughout her remarkable career, she has faithfully served not only the Henderson community but also the Haliwa-Saponi and Soul City centers. Over the years, she has taken on multiple roles, including Teacher Assistant and Bus Monitor, always demonstrating a genuine commitment to the growth, safety, and well-being of every child she served.

While much of her career was spent helping nurture and educate three- and four-year-old children, the last four years of her service have been dedicated to enriching the Pre-K program and helping prepare young learners for future success.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ms. Jones is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She and her husband have shared more than 53 years of marriage and are blessed with six children, 15 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

We thank Ms. Jones for more than two decades of dedication, compassion, and service to the Head Start mission. Her commitment to children and families has left a lasting legacy that continues to inspire those around her.

❤️ Thank you, Ms. Jones, for making a difference in the lives of so many children and families throughout our communities.

Strong communication and conflict resolution are essential life skills that help build successful careers, healthy relationships, and stronger communities.

Today, Participants had the opportunity to receive conflict resolution training from the Henderson Police Department. This valuable session focused on understanding how to manage disagreements, communicate effectively, make positive decisions, and resolve conflicts in a productive manner.

We appreciate the Henderson Police Department for investing their time and knowledge into our young adults. By equipping participants with these important skills, we are helping prepare them for success in the workplace, in their communities, and in everyday life.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved African Americans were free. Although President Abraham Lincoln had signed the Emancipation Proclamation more than two years earlier on January 1, 1863, many enslaved people in Texas remained unaware of their freedom until federal troops arrived to enforce it.

This important moment in American history reminds us that freedom is not just about removing barriers. It is also about access to knowledge, opportunity, and the ability to determine our own future.

As we reflect on Juneteenth, we celebrate the resilience, faith, perseverance, and contributions of generations who endured tremendous hardship while continuing to build families, businesses, churches, schools, and communities. Their sacrifices helped create opportunities that many of us benefit from today.

Juneteenth also encourages us to consider how we use the freedoms we have been given. Freedom creates possibilities, but progress comes when those possibilities are matched with purpose, education, responsibility, and a commitment to one another. Strong communities are built when people invest in their families, support local businesses, mentor young people, pursue education, and work together toward common goals.

The challenges we face today cannot be solved by one individual, one organization, or one institution alone. Lasting change happens when communities unite around a shared vision and each person does their part to contribute to the greater good.

As we honor Juneteenth, let us celebrate freedom, recognize the progress that has been made, and recommit ourselves to creating opportunities that will benefit future generations.

Happy Juneteenth from Franklin-Vance-Warren Opportunity, Inc.

Empowering People. Strengthening Communities. Creating Opportunities.
