The Bower Fund

The Bower Fund The Bower Fund supports education and health opportunities for children in Southern Nevada.

The Dr. Joel and Carol Bower School-Based Health Center (SBHC) was founded in 2004 as a partnership between Nevada State College School of Nursing and Basic High School to address significant unmet health needs of Henderson children. The center provides services such as immunizations, emergency care, chronic disease management, sports physicals and health education. To date, The SBHC has provided

healthcare to more than 10,000 low-income and under served children in the community who may have otherwise gone untreated. In 2017 Nevada Health Centers assumed operations of the SBHC replacing Nevada State College School of Nursing. The center was then renamed Nevada Health Centers Bower School-Based Health Center at Basic Academy. In 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic as well as looking at the needs of the local community, it was determined to broaden the allocation of the funds generated through the annual golf tournament. The proceeds from the tournament will go toward the Bower Fund which supports education and health opportunities as well as other essential needs of children in Southern Nevada.

We are proud to announce this year's nonprofit organizations receiving grants from The Bower Fund.

💙 Communication Autism Resources– Expanding access to early intervention therapy, communication training, and assistive technology for children and young adults with autism and developmental disabilities.

💙 Fuente de Vida– Providing evidence-based mental health, substance use prevention, and family strengthening programs for multicultural youth and parents.

💙 Nevada Diabetes Association - Helping children and teens attend Camp Buck and Teen Camp through scholarships and travel assistance.

💙 GiGi's Playhouse – Enhancing the one-on-one literacy and math tutoring with Smartboard technology, interactive learning tools, and take-home literacy kits to support learning at the Playhouse and at home.

💙 Raise the Future – Connecting youth in foster care with permanent, loving families through intensive recruitment and permanency services.

💙 Project Marilyn – Providing period kits to students through Communities In Schools, helping remove barriers to learning and well-being.

💙 Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada– Ensuring families can access life-saving treatment through travel assistance for pediatric cancer care.

The Bower Fund nonprofit was proud to sponsor and walk alongside Cooper’s Crew at / GiGi's Playhouse Las Vegas 5th Annual Dash for Down Syndrome 5K & 1-Mile Walk on April 12th. This inspiring event helps ensure individuals with Down syndrome and their families have access to free, life-changing programs that empower confidence, growth, and connection.
