St. Thomas Aquinas Cathedral in Reno (.reno) and the Silver Sage Foundation collaborated to host an iftar dinner, reminding us that we share far more in common than we often realize.

It was truly a beautiful evening filled with faith, friendship, and unity. Seeing people from different backgrounds come together, share a meal, and connect meant so much to us.

Special thanks to Silver Sage and all partners, volunteers, and guests who made this event possible.

Moments like this remind us how strong our community is when we come together🌙.

On March 11, the Silver Sage Foundation, in partnership with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department () , hosted a special Community Iftar Dinner at LVMPD Headquarters, bringing together residents from across Las Vegas to share an evening of reflection, unity, and friendship.

Held during the final days of Ramadan and in honor of Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Power, the gathering welcomed people of different faiths, cultures, and backgrounds to experience the meaningful tradition of breaking the fast together.
More than a meal, the evening became a moment of genuine connection. Faith leaders, community members, civic partners, and guests sat side by side, sharing conversation, gratitude, and the spirit of Ramadan-compassion, generosity, and humility.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the incredible volunteers of the Silver Sage Foundation whose dedication and hospitality helped create such a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone in attendance.

We extend our gratitude to LVMPD, community leaders, and all who joined us for this meaningful evening. Together, we continue building bridges of understanding and friendship across Las Vegas.

On the evening of March 6, we were grateful to share a warm home Iftar with dear friends. Surrounded by delicious food, heartfelt conversations, and genuine companionship, the evening reminded us that the true beauty of such gatherings lies in being together.

As a Turkish proverb says, “The heart neither seeks tea nor a coffeehouse; the heart seeks companionship; tea is merely the excuse.” Indeed, the Iftar was the reason to gather, but the real blessing was the friendship and meaningful dialogue we shared.

We broke our fast in gratitude and prayed together after the adhan, ending the night with a deep sense of peace, faith, and connection. 🌙

On March 1, Silver Sage Foundation Intercultural Dialogue hosted its 3rd Annual Signature Iftar Dinner, bringing together community members, faith leaders, and friends for an evening of reflection, culture, and connection.

As the sun set, guests gathered to break the fast and share in the spirit of Ramadan; a time of gratitude, patience, and compassion. We were honored to welcome Mayor Shelley Berkley () , Interfaith Council of Southern Nevada Executive Director Marvin Gawryn, Henderson Fire Chief Scott Vivier, and many distinguished community leaders who joined us in celebrating unity.

The evening was enriched with traditional Turkish coffee, baklava, beautiful calligraphy art, and the soothing sound of the Ney flute, creating a warm space for meaningful conversations and new friendships.

More than a dinner, the 3rd Annual Signature Iftar was a reminder that when people of different backgrounds come together around one table, diversity becomes a bridge and community grows stronger.

Baklava made from scratch!
On January 10th, Silver Sage Reno cooking class rolled the dough, layered walnuts, and poured the sweet syrup to create homemade baklava. It was just as fun to make as it was to eat!

✨ Wow, what a feast! ✨
We kicked off the New Year with our very first Cooking Club of the year, and it couldn’t have been more delicious.
Chef Ms. Mine and her mother spoiled us with their incredible family recipes, featuring the beloved Kisir salad and a mouthwatering Poppy Seed Pastry. Every bite was a hit, and everyone couldn’t wait to dig in!
What made the day even more special was the wonderful presence of Las Vegas Councilwoman Francis Allen-Palenske .Her energy lit up the room, and we’re so grateful she took the time to join us and support our Cooking Club.
Great food, great company, and unforgettable memories-the perfect way to start the year!

This December at Cooking Club, our Indonesian chef Deasy delighted both our hearts and our appetites with Korean-style marinated eggs and Indonesian chicken noodle soup.
As if the delicious flavors and beautiful presentation weren’t enough, she personally served every single guest with her own hands. It truly felt like being invited into her home.
