On October 10, Charlie-Mike Foundation proudly partnered with the Nevada Army National Guard for the Nevada National Guard Golf Leadership Event at Angel Park Golf Club. 🇺🇸⛳

The day connected Guard members, veterans, and community leaders, strengthening relationships and highlighting leadership and recruiting opportunities within the Guard.

Next in our Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop Speaker Spotlight series, we’re featuring David Lonergan, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and founder of Triple Threat Transformation.

David brings a perspective that connects entrepreneurship with discipline, mindset, personal growth, and community. His work reflects the idea that building a business is not only about the service you provide, but also about how you lead, adapt, stay consistent, and create something that can make a real impact.

As part of our Entrepreneur Panel, David will join the conversation around leadership, building with purpose, lessons learned, staying resilient through challenges, and what it looks like to turn experience and passion into something sustainable.

The workshop is designed for veterans, service members, Guard and Reserve members, military spouses, and military families who are exploring entrepreneurship, preparing to launch, or already building a business. Attendees will also have the opportunity to connect with fellow entrepreneurs and learn about resources available within our local community.

Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop | Speaker Spotlight: Steven C. Thompson + Diamond Residential Mortgage Corporation

Next in our Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop Speaker Spotlight series, we’re highlighting Steven C. Thompson, U.S. Marine Corps veteran, entrepreneur, mortgage professional, and veteran advocate.

Steven served in the Marine Corps from 1999 to 2003, including deployment to Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military experience helped shape the discipline, adaptability, and commitment to service that he continues to bring into his professional and entrepreneurial work today.

After transitioning from military service, Steven worked for Clark County, launched his own preservation contracting business, and later built a career in mortgage lending. Over the past six years, he has helped more than 470 homeowners navigate the lending process and pursue their homeownership goals. Today, he serves as Branch Manager at Diamond Residential Mortgage Corporation.

Steven also serves on the Board of Directors for the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals (VAREP), where he advocates for veterans and supports real estate professionals committed to serving their communities.

Steven will join our Entrepreneur Panel to share his perspective on transitioning from military service, entrepreneurship, building a new career, serving clients and communities, and the lessons he has learned along the way.

We’re proud to bring our community together for Community Heroes: A Salute to Service on Friday, September 25 from 5:00–8:00 PM at Eight Lounge at Resorts World Las Vegas. 🇺🇸

Presented by the Charlie-Mike Foundation in partnership with the Nevada Army National Guard, this evening is dedicated to recognizing the veterans, military leaders, community partners, advocates, and organizations who continue to serve and strengthen our community.

At CMF, we believe meaningful impact happens when people come together with a shared commitment to service. This event is an opportunity to recognize those who consistently show up for our veterans, service members, military families, and the greater Southern Nevada community — while creating space for connection, recognition, and continued partnership.

We’re also grateful to Veterans Community & Founders Exchange and Elite Social Events, LLC for their support in helping bring this evening together.

As we continue highlighting the speakers joining us for the Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop on September 26, we’re excited to feature Michael Carroll, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and founder of STARS Solutions LLC.

Michael’s entrepreneurial journey is closely tied to his own transition from military service. Through STARS, he is developing a platform focused on helping service members and veterans navigate education, career pathways, and the transition into civilian life with greater access to information, resources, and support.

Michael will join our Entrepreneur Panel to share his perspective on turning lived experience into a business idea, building a startup, continuing his education while developing a venture, and the lessons he has learned along the way.

As we continue highlighting the speakers joining us for the Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop on September 26, we’re pleased to feature Lester Lumbad, a veteran entrepreneur, community organizer, and veteran advocate whose work has focused on strengthening connections across Southern Nevada’s veteran and business communities.

Through his leadership and involvement with the Veterans Community & Founders Exchange (VCFX), Lester has helped create opportunities for veterans, entrepreneurs, business leaders, and community partners to connect, collaborate, and support one another. He brings that experience to our Entrepreneur Panel, where he’ll share perspective on leadership, entrepreneurship, lessons learned, relationship-building, and the realities of starting and growing a business.

Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop | Community Partner Spotlight

As we get closer to our Veteran Entrepreneur Workshop on September 26, we’re excited to highlight one of the incredible community partners helping make this event possible: the UNLV Patent & Trademark Resource Center, powered by SWITCH.

For entrepreneurs, protecting an idea, business name, product, or brand can feel overwhelming. The UNLV Patent & Trademark Resource Center helps make that process more approachable by providing access to patent and trademark research resources, trained experts, research consultations, educational workshops, and one-on-one guidance.

We’re especially grateful to the UNLV PTRC team for not only joining us as a workshop presenter, but also for welcoming the Charlie-Mike Foundation and our veteran and military-connected community into UNLV Lied Library for this event.

A huge thank you to Jeff Meyer and the entire TuffNUff team for opening their doors to the Charlie-Mike Foundation and our veteran community during Tuff-N-Uff 154.

Our veterans were given a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bring a live MMA event to life — from production and operations to media, marketing, athlete coordination, and fight-night logistics.

This was more than a tour. It was an opportunity for veterans to connect with industry professionals, explore career pathways in sports entertainment, and see firsthand the teamwork, discipline, and preparation that happen long before the lights come on.

We are incredibly grateful to Jeff and Tuff-N-Uff for welcoming our veterans with such care, respect, and generosity. Partnerships like this help create access, connection, and new possibilities for those who have served.
