Part 2

Our Annual Back to School Essentials Giveaway held Downtown Henderson August 22nd at the Way to Grow! Colorfestival Homecoming was such a blessing!

We were able to bless over 600 students with essentials to start the school year with confidence and enthusiasm!

Each student received a bag with deodorant, body wash, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, Vaseline, shampoo, conditioner, Claritin, witch hazel, and body wipes.

After receiving the bag, they were able to choose a hair comb and brush set, hair accessories, 1 pack of undergarments, 1 pack of T-shirts, and 1 pack of socks.

After completing their essentials bags. Everyone including Parents were received bagged lunches that were provided by hometown SuperStar Jass Clutch!!! And prepared by the ladies of PrimeTime and my Aunt Gracie Carter!

Their shopping experience didn’t stop there. Each family was invited inside our custom Clothing Closet to shop for new and gently used clothes and shoes! The smiles and energy were simply amazing!

Thank you to our amazing Advisory Board to always going above and beyond to see the mission become reality!

Thank you to the 40 volunteers of students and adult volunteers who showed and served with smiles and excellence!

Thank you to our community partners AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina, who provided tote bags for shopping and the the Mobile Wellness Center for onsite in partnership with Granville Vance Public Health to provide A1C tests, blood pressure checks. Blessed Trinity Ministries, Listen to Hear, Here to Listen provided backpacks, hygiene supplies, and other resources to students and families.

Thank you to every community partner, organization and individual donors who supported in your own way! You are greatly appreciated!

Major shoutout to Pope Foundation and Variety Wholesalers for your support and tireless efforts to ensure we were able to get all items purchased in bulk, neatly packaged, and special delivery right to our front door! This is truly what teamwork looks like!!! Thank you Kim, Nancy, & the amazing ladies at the Henderson location who all helped make this day a success!

Lastly thank you to everyone who showed up with your children, grandchildren, neighbors, and friends we pray you were not only blessed but that you felt loved, valued, and appreciated this day!

Today we completed our 2nd session of 4 of the HUBZone Technology Initiative - HTI Digital Literacy Skills Program.

This session covered Email Setup/Communication and Web Searching.

This is a such fun group and I’m proud of the progress they are making as they continue to improve their skills and knowledge in digital literacy!

Park & Play Senior at Vance Senior Housing! This monthly fellowship is such a blessing to be a part of!

Today the session started off with chair exercises by Rev Coach Debra Taylor along with encouraging words!

The group had two choices for activities. To decorate a Be Happy magnet or make a wooden art LOVE bracelet!

As the good music filled the room, the laughter and conversations began! The group enjoyed pizza, cuties, and garden salad for lunch!!!

We are always grateful to spend time with our neighbors, showing them love and kindness!

Next month we are making candles! 🕯️

Grateful for the partnership with HUBZone Technology Initiative - HTI to provide the Basic Digital Literacy Skills Course.

Tomorrow we will begin Session 1 of 4 to help improve the digital divide in our senior community.
Each session is 2 hours and each participant receives a certificate of completion/competency at session 4.

All set up for the Popup Shop at the Minority Diabetes Prevention Program- AIMHigh

Participants earn money each session by tracking nutrition and daily exercise activities.

Gained knowledge and experience through this class along with resources, incentives, and support are preventing and/or delaying Type 2 Diabetes, as well as improving overall health outcomes!

Our Park & Play finale was simply amazing! We visited our friends at Springwood Apartments and had an absolute blast!

We started the play session with “volleyball” and relay races! Even the Moms jumped in to race one another! The smiles and laughter were epic!

We played jumped the creek, fruit & veggie relay race, and a neighborhood favorite hide and seek!

Our snack & chat included mandarin oranges and string cheese. As always we talked about the importance of getting outside to play and making healthy food choices.

Mrs Shante of Granville Vance Public Health provided each participant with a hygiene bag and AmeriHealth Caritas NC provided swag bag with goodies included!

What a great play session finale! It has truly been another amazing summer of Park & Play!
