This morning a couple members gave up part of their Saturday to do a deep clean of the station, get trucks in order with equipment, and load about 800’ of hose onto our quint. We definitely made a good dent in getting organized.

There have been some questions and comments made about saving money on your home owners insurance since we purchased our new Engine 158. We currently are classified as a ISO Class 5/5X.

Our rating dropped from a Class 7/7X to a Class 5/5X on July 1st 2023. The ISO scores fire departments on how they are doing against its organization’s standards to determine property insurance costs.

Nationally, only 57% of communities are rated class five or better. So this is very good for our community.

To determine ISO rating for fire departments, the Insurance Service Office organization conducts a field survey and scores your department across four key areas using the Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS).

These areas include Emergency Communication Systems, Fire Departments covering personnel, capabilities, training, equipment, etc. Water Supply, and Community Risk Reduction.

It uses a 100-point scale (with the potential of 105.5 with the Community Risk Reduction extra credit), and the more points you score, the better your ISO fire rating.
