Sustaining Happiness - an Excerpt
How can we sustain the feeling of happiness?
We dive into a few scriptures to learn how God shows us and guides us into learning how to sustain happiness in 2023.
So what does God's Word say about Happiness?
1 Samuel 2:1 states
"My heart rejoices in the Lord; my horn is lifted up by the Lord. My mouth boasts over my enemies because I rejoice in Your salvation."
We can rejoice, no matter the obstacle we are facing, in the Lord. We can boast over our enemies (those who wish us pain & despair - the ones who are guided by dark spirits.) Because I rejoice in Your salvation. (The salvation He gives us)
Even though we face times of discouragement, sadness worry; in Proverbs 12:25 it states, "Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but a good word cheers it up."
As you already know, when someone pays for your meal, coffee, gas or gives you encouraging words - you feel better.
But how can we get encouragement even when no one seems to be there to provide it?
Acts 9:31 states,
"So the church throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace, being built up and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the encouragement of the Holy Spirit, and it increased in numbers."

Fear(respect) of the Lord
Holy Spirit
With fear of the Lord in our hearts & from the Holy Spirit we can gain encouragement.
In Acts 1:9 we read,
"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Jesus had to leave in order for the Holy Spirit to come. But the Holy Spirit didn't leave when the last of the Apostles died.
The Holy Spirit is very much so with us and working through us in this very day.
As Christians, the power of the Holy Spirit resides in us. Every day. And encourages us, even when no one else seems to be around. He is always right there.
Are we ever helpless?
Habakkuk 3:17-18 states,
"17. Though the fig tree dies not bud and there is no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, 18. yet I will triumph in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation"
So even when the bills are due or maybe even overdo, the food seems hard to come by, the work seems to be draining and no hope seems to be upon you; remember that we will triumph in our Lord; the God of our salvation.
Faith in what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1
"Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not yet seen"
Pray as if you have already received. Say it until you feel it, when you feel it you'll believe it. And give it to God.
He will restore you, He will guide you, He will provide for you.
Sustaining Happiness
Begins when you focus on the power within yourself given through the Holy Spirit, through the love of Jesus Christ and the grace of God.
