PSA:

Everyone is saying they can’t care for their guinea pigs anymore…well guess what? I can’t either!

There are over 80 guinea pigs in the rescue and adoptions have been super slow. I currently have over 30 rescue piggies at my home. My fosters are full to the brim.

And also, I don’t get the sudden allergies that you are getting even though you’ve had your guinea pigs for awhile. 😒

If I had taken all the owner surrender requests just in the last 5 weeks alone, I would have an additional 50 guinea pigs in the rescue. This is just the last 6 weeks. Surrender requests daily.

So….new rule…if you can come over daily and feed, weekly to clean their enclosure, pay for supplies AND find a space in my house…I will take them. 😊😊Otherwise, I’m sorry, I can’t help.

Please don’t get animals unless you are committed for the long haul. They deserve better. Rescues are NOT dumping grounds for people who give up, we are supposed to be here for the animals that truly need rescuing.

PS: please don’t start your requests out as “I know you have so many already but…” because that means you are following me and are seeing me struggle with balancing a full time job, my own pets and running this rescue on my own.

Update on AZ Piggies!!

I’ve said it so many times before….and I’m saying it again….it takes a village.

All the piggies will be safe! Thanks to and and of course, yours truly- all the piggies at the shelter will be going into rescue. Yes, they do have a red list date- but they will be safe.
We are still not 100% certain of genders. I was told that one has a hurt leg and one was bleeding from the private area.

At this point (always subject to change), we will be taking two pair, will be taking two pair and will be taking a pair. Of course it depends on genders, keeping same genders together, medical, etc.

Our AMAZING previous adopter will be meeting half way in Arizona to pick up piggies Saturday morning.

What is needed now:

1) Fosters- if you volunteered in the previous post, I’ll be coming for you 🤣🤣
2) Supplies: for Vegas Friends, we need liners for the fosters (4), 10 pound bags of pellets (2) and vitamin c (2). I think I have everything else covered.

Help needed!!

What kind of help?

I don’t know. I know I have been feeling like crap the last couple days, I’m tired, I’m sad….I have been bombarded with people tagging me in posts, sending me posts, requesting that I take their piggies. I am working on another return. My house is full, there is physically no where to put any piggies.

But yet….these poor babies are breaking my heart.

A small animal control in Casa Grande, AZ was searching the desert for a reported emaciated dog when they came upon 17 Guinea pigs, dumped out there. Several have passed away. There are 10 left.

This shelter has no ability to handle guinea pigs. They are not equipped for that.

I am asking….,

1) Can any rescue take any on? I absolutely cannot take on all of them
2) Can anyone help transport? Are there any transport companies out there that can give some good deals to rescues?
3) Are there any fosters that can step up to take any?

At this point I have no idea of genders, ages, nothing. I only know these 10 are lucky to be alive, but can’t stay where they are.

The babies are almost ready! The pair are both boys, both are crested. Born on May 19. Must be adopted together. Adopter should research caring for baby guinea pigs, they do require a couple different diet requirements.

The little girl is available for adoption to another guinea pig or a herd only. She cannot be adopted to be alone.

I anticipate a lot of interest so please make sure to put your applications in right away so they can all be reviewed!!

This is Bean and Bubbles. Bean was adopted from us about a year and a half ago as a companion for Bubbles.
The family is now being deployed oversees 🙁Although they have tried to get the paperwork in order to take them, it fell through and now these girls need a new forever home.

The goal is to find a home before the middle of July, which is when the family is leaving. If we do not find them a home, they will come back to the rescue and will need a foster. 🙁

You can see that the girls are beautiful. Little Bubbles does have a small cataract in one eye, but otherwise has a clean bill of health from the vet.

If you are interested in adopting these girls, applications will go through us. They will come with “an impossible” (the family’s words) amount of supplies and a large enclosure.

I do want to add that this really needs to be a forever home for Bean. She has been through so much. We pulled her and her friend Cruella from a local shelter. Bean and Cruella were adopted, then at some point Cruella died. They brought Bean back to the rescue and she was lot in good shape. So now she has been adopted and returned again. This little girl and her friend deserve nothing short of paradise.

If you can’t provide paradise, please don’t apply. 🤣🤣

We are making the decision to let Little Shadow go 💔💔

I knew he had been declining the last few days, not being as entrusting about taking his critical care, not being as vocal. Last night when I was giving him his bath he really seemed off.

Today Dr M agreed with me. He didn’t even do the procedure on him because he was unlikely to survive the anesthesia. The time had come that I had been dreading for over a month- Shadow is suffering.
His bulla disease has caused half of his face to be paralyzed, so he can’t eat properly. He can’t blink his eye. His head tilt is severe. This poor sweet big just doesn’t have a quality of life. I had thought and brainstormed and bounced ideas around for the last several weeks, because this boy is so young I wanted to give him a chance.
But the kindest thing to do now is to let him go.
My sweet Shadow. You didn’t deserve this. Another product of poor breeding and poor conditions at pet stores. We won’t forget you. And we won’t stop fighting.

Positive thoughts needed for Little Shadow tomorrow!

Shadow is going in for an exploratory dental procedure, to see if there is anything we can do to help him.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe there is- but I’m hoping for a miracle. The one side of his face is paralyzed, likely from the infected bulla. And in the last couple days, he just really hasn’t been himself. I think he’s in pain. 💔I think we will end up having to make a tough decision for this boy. 😭

But…Dr M can be a miracle worker, so let’s send Shadow the positive vibes and Dr M the healing vibes to see if he can help our little friend 🩶🩶
