CORA’s 16th Annual Fundraising Gala – A Night of Celebration and Impact Franklin Square, NY – Saturday, July 19, 2025
CORA hosted its 16th Annual Fundraising Gala at L’Antillaise Caterers Restaurant in Franklin Square. The elegant evening ran from 9:00 PM to 2:00 AM and brought together friends, partners, and supporters to celebrate the organization’s ongoing mission in Haiti, particularly in Anse-à-Veau.
The night began with a festive cocktail hour, followed by dinner and lively dancing to music provided by DJ Sketch. Throughout the event, guests enjoyed opportunities to reconnect, network, and learn more about CORA’s work through a moving video presentation.
A Year of Accomplishments
The presentation featured the activities of local partner organizations such as APREM, HSF, and AAVP, as well as CORA-sponsored initiatives for the 2024–2025 academic year. These included:
• Establishment of a school garden and support for a student excursion
• Full scholarship for a medical student
• Sponsorship of a school nurse, cook, and vocational training materials for the Salesian School
• Support for the Brossard youth band, including a music teacher and instruments
• Construction of a modern sanitary block for St. Joseph School
• Renovation and furnishing of the Anse-à-Veau Community Library
Special Highlights
The event also featured the presentation of the Haitian Visual Dictionary: Langue des Signes Haïtienne by Florence Marc Charles. This important trilingual resource supports communication within the Haitian Deaf community and beyond.
CORA took the opportunity to honor Nicole Rosefort, a long-time supporter and engaged community leader, celebrating both her retirement and her birthday with heartfelt recognition.
A Spirit of Generosity
The evening’s 50/50 raffle winner, Ms. Maria Abelleira, President of the Rotary Club of South Queens, NY, generously donated her prize toward the construction of the Chapel of Morcou, further contributing to CORA’s mission in the region.
Continued Support
In the days following the event, ADIHA (Association des Ingénieurs Haïtiens et Américains), represented by Mr. Gary Ambroise, donated four laptops to the Bibliothèque Communautaire Municipale de l’Anse-à-Veau. This gift, made through CORA, will help create a modern research space for local youth.
Thank you to all who made this event a success!
