Juneteenth is more than a date in history. It is a reminder that progress often comes from generations of people who refused to stop pushing forward.

As we work to create opportunities for young people through education, mentorship, and STEM, we recognize the importance of those who expanded access, opened doors, and made it possible for future generations to dream bigger.

From tiny caterpillars to butterflies ready to fly 🦋✨

Watching this transformation with our Roosevelt students was such a special experience. After caring for them and learning about their life cycle, it was finally time to release them and watch them take off.

Moments like these remind us that learning can be hands-on, memorable, and inspiring all at once 💛

A few weeks ago, most of these students had never taken apart a computer before.

Now they’re walking away from Project Innovate having built their own systems from the ground up 💻🔧

Over the course of the program, students explored computer hardware, rebuilt desktop PCs, learned entrepreneurial skills, built websites, and explored engineering concepts like digital fabrication and 3D modeling.

What started as curiosity turned into hands-on experience, teamwork, problem solving, and real technical skills they can carry forward beyond the classroom 🚀

To close out the program, students assembled computers they now get to take home themselves.

One missing piece and the whole robot stops working 🤖

Last month, students in the SUNY Farmingdale STEP Program spent the day building and testing their own mBots, working through assembly, troubleshooting, and plenty of “wait… try that again” moments along the way.

Best part? They didn’t just build the robots, they got to take them home too.
