Thank you Joyce from for arranging a meeting with our team to discuss collaboration with the District Attorney’s Office and giving us an entire lesson on nonprofit management. We truly appreciate these opportunities, which ultimately allow us to do greater good in society!

Shout out to Nolan Jacobs - incoming UPenn freshman from Maine - for a successful proposal to his school administration regarding financial literacy! Nolan took inspiration from the Fin$marts curriculum. Now, his school will be implementing financial literacy within their applied math courses. Not only is his administration backing the new program, but the state of Maine as well! He believes if we all continue to work together, financial literacy will make a meaningful impact on the national scale.

April is National Financial Literacy Month! In the absence of in-person programming due to COVID-19, Fin$marts plans on offering virtual financial literacy education for the time being! We’ve also been discussing our financial literacy/crime prevention vision with organizations based - that we plan on working with in the coming years. We believe that a greater emphasis on financial literacy in society will reduce crime.

Some of Fin$mart’s instructors met at Lawrence Road Middle School this Wednesday to lead the first official lesson of our program with the Uniondale Community Council. Middle Schoolers developed an intricate business plan as we gathered students’ overall curriculum interests for future lessons. We’re looking forward to working with these motivated entrepreneurial minds.

Fin$marts is expanding its demographic! Tomorrow, we’re programming with Middle School students in an after school program at Lawrence Road Middle School, in Hempstead, NY. The program is via an extension of the Uniondale Community Council. Be !

Today’s classes at Lawrence HS were a great success for the Fin$marts team! Students became $mart, learning about being financially independent, setting S.M.A.R.T. financial goals, saving, earning and growing money, budgeting, managing credit and planning for college. As part of the Nassau County District Attorney Community Partnership Program (CPP) program, the FAC team will be presenting tomorrow at Lawrence HS to ~60 at-risk high school students. We’re eager to get our first program underway and spread financial smarts! Be !
