Welcome our NEW UCR Public Policy Intern!!!

Stephanie Perea is a first year UC Riverside School of Public Policy Master student AND a Randall Lewis Policy Fellow.

She is passionate about advancing our Healthy Valley Foundation mission specifically through our collective impact efforts for older adults in the San Jacinto Valley.

Stephanie comes with experience in rural communities and older adults social services. She will turn her education and experience to build out focus groups for co-living housing options for older adults.

An AED—Automated External Defibrillator—is designed to help someone experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

You'll find them in schools, gyms, businesses, churches and other public spaces.

This October, start noticing them.

We Can Be Are Part of the Emergency Response. Who'da thought?

Before the ambulance arrives, someone has to act.

That someone could be YOU.

When sudden cardiac arrest occurs, the people already nearby can become the first link in the lifesaving response—calling 911, beginning CPR, and locating an AED.

You don't have to be a healthcare professional to be prepared.

This October, make a commitment to become CPR and AED ready.

Ten months ago, we put together a Think Tank of experts and practitioners focusing on some of the biggest challenges facing young families.

Together we formed the Maternal and Early Childhood Network with a shared North Star towards - A thriving Hemet–San Jacinto Valley where families are supported early, care is accessible, and every child is surrounded by a system that promotes health, dignity, and belonging.

Yesterday we launched our continuum of care coordination of the network bringing together service providers from perinatal to postpartum to serving 0-5, creating a HUB around our Family Resource Center located at California Family Life Center - CFLC

Truly proud of our Valley partners that step up, are solution oriented, data driven and listen to its community.

Last week our we a part of a wonderful kickoff with the UC Riverside Randall Lewis Policy Fellowship through the UCR Center for Community Solutions bringing together fellows and host organizations from across the Inland Empire.

We are grateful for this fellowship program connects emerging policy leaders with nonprofits and public agencies, giving graduate students an opportunity to apply their research and policy skills to real-world community challenges.

And it was great to be in a room with friends and colleagues we collaborate with at the Healthy Valley Foundation.

We're excited to welcome Stephanie Perea as our newest fellow and look forward to the fresh perspectives, curiosity, and talent she'll bring to our work in the San Jacinto Valley.

At Healthy Valley Foundation, we consistently ask and reflect on, what makes a community truly strong?

Our Board of Directors read John McKnight’s The Connected Community: Discovering the Health, Wealth, and Power of Neighborhoods.

Its message is both simple and powerful: healthy communities are built not only through programs and institutions, but through the relationships, gifts, skills, and care that already exist among neighbors.

The book challenges us to look beyond what a community needs and recognize what it already has—people with talents to share, neighbors willing to help one another, local associations, and connections that create belonging and resilience.

For our Board, it prompted an important reflection:

What would Hemet and San Jacinto look like if we measured the strength of our Valley not only by the services available, but by how connected we are to one another?

A more connected community is a healthier community—and building it takes all of us.
