Every year, we gather to honor those we have lost, educate our community, and empower families with the knowledge and resources needed to prevent future tragedies.

Founded in memory of my son, Richard "RJ" Royer, this event continues to grow because of the incredible support from our community, partners, volunteers, and families who believe that awareness saves lives.

Together, we can break the stigma, start the conversations, and make a difference.

💙💛 THANK YOU, WALMART SPARKS COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM! 💛💙

We are incredibly honored and grateful to announce that Out of the Ashes Organization has been awarded a $500 Walmart Spark Good Community Grant from Walmart Store #6609! 🎉

This generous investment in our mission helps us continue providing fentanyl awareness education, overdose prevention resources, youth intervention programs, and harm reduction efforts throughout our communities.

Every dollar makes a difference. This grant will help us reach more students, educate more families, distribute life-saving resources, and continue turning tragedy into purpose.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to the leadership and associates at Walmart #6609 for believing in the work we do and for supporting local organizations that are making a positive impact.

👟 A memorial honoring lives lost to fentanyl poisoning & overdose awareness 🕊️

Every pair of shoes tells a story.
Every shoe represents a life that should still be here.
A child. A sibling. A friend. A son.
My son — Richard “RJ” Royer, Forever 18.

This summer, we are launching a powerful visual memorial installation:
A pair of your loved one’s shoes placed beneath a custom 18x24 sneaker-shaped tribute sign displaying their photo, name, age, and dates. Together, these memorials will form a field of remembrance and awareness — a visible stand against the fentanyl crisis.

This exhibit will travel to:
✨ Washington, D.C.
✨ Community & awareness events
✨ School presentations
✨ Advocacy demonstrations
✨ State & county observances

💜 Participation Details
Families are asked to contribute $65, which covers:

📍 Custom 18x24 memorial sneaker tribute sign
📍 Protective storage container for shoes
📍 Climate-controlled storage
📍 Transportation to Washington D.C. & events throughout the year
📍 Display setup & preservation
