Our organization, Cortes Disabled Veterans and Alliance Inc., along with the distinguished Mayor Julio Roldán of Aguadilla and his dedicated team, proudly unveiled the inaugural Borinqueneers monument sign in Aguadilla, PR. This marks just the beginning of our journey, as we have plans to install a total of 78 signs in the future. Our mission is to create a movement that honors the legacy of the historic 65th Infantry Regiment. We are also committed to changing the narrative surrounding Puerto Rican veterans, ensuring they receive the same respect afforded to veterans from the mainland United States. It is crucial that our government adheres to the PR 203 veterans law and fully recognizes the rights we are entitled to. Together, as veteran organizations, we can rally in support of our elected officials to accelerate the path toward equality. This is our heartfelt wish as Puerto Rican veterans. 🇵🇷
I would also like to express our gratitude to Samuel Pérez for his invaluable assistance in ensuring the professional completion of this sign, to Wilfred Torres, the Director of Public Security, and his team for their exceptional coordination in transporting and installing the sign, and to Rodney Ferrer, DAV Department Commander of PR, for his efforts in rallying veterans and spreading the word about the significance of this initiative. Without the contributions of these individuals, this mission would not have been possible. Thanks to their support, we look forward to our next project in the next city in PR, with hope to set it in motion around June 2026, God willing!
