“God calls us not only to have a vision, but to put our faith into action. Through prayer, hard work, perseverance, and service to others, we can accomplish the goals He places before us. As Scripture reminds us, ‘Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.’ When we do the work with integrity and dedication, God provides the strength and direction to reach the destination.”

Proverbs 16:3

To my fellow Veterans, military families, and proud Texans:

This new fiscal year I’m planning to continue fighting every single day to advocate for the passage of H.B. 235 and H.B. 2894 in the State of Texas.

These bills are not just legislation — they represent respect, economic opportunity, and long overdue support for the men and women who sacrificed for this country.

H.B. 235 is focused on providing a sales and use tax exemption for taxable items purchased by disabled veterans. The proposed legislation would allow qualified disabled veterans financial relief on taxable purchases, helping reduce the burden many veteran families face due to inflation and rising costs of living.

I will also continue advocating for tax exemption benefits to apply fairly in accordance with a veteran’s VA disability percentage, ensuring that veterans who sacrificed the most receive proportional relief and recognition for their service-connected disabilities.

This approach creates fairness across the system while supporting veterans at every level of disability:• Greater financial relief for severely disabled veterans• Economic assistance for veterans struggling with service-connected conditions• Increased purchasing power for veteran households• More economic stability for military families across Texas

H.B. 2894 focuses on strengthening support for disabled veteran property tax exemptions while helping local governments maintain financial stability through state assistance and reimbursement support.

This is important because it helps ensure Texas can continue supporting disabled veterans without placing unnecessary financial strain on local communities. It creates balance while protecting the benefits veterans earned through sacrifice.

If these bills pass:• More veterans will choose to remain living in Texas• Texas will continue attracting military retirees and veteran families from across the nation• Local businesses will benefit from increased veteran spending power• Veteran families will experience improved economic stability• Communities will grow stronger through veteran reinvestment• Texas will strengthen its reputation as the best state in America for veterans

Veterans are not asking for charity — we are asking for recognition of service, sacrifice, and fairness.

When Texas invests in veterans, veterans reinvest directly back into Texas communities and the Texas economy.

As a veteran advocate, my guiding word has always been FAITH.

Faith gives us strength when the system says “wait.”Faith gives us courage when others stay silent.Faith reminds us that united veterans are one of the strongest forces in America.

With faith, discipline, and unity, we will continue building a grassroots movement that lawmakers cannot ignore.

Now is the time for veterans across Texas to stand together and make our voices heard.

I encourage every veteran, family member, and supporter to:✔ Comment✔ Share this post✔ Tag fellow veterans✔ Get involved in the grassroots movement

Together, we will fight.Together, we will lead.Together, we will pass these bills.

May God continue to bless our veterans, our families, and the great State of Texas.

Our organization, Cortes Disabled Veterans and Alliance Inc., along with the distinguished Mayor Julio Roldán of Aguadilla and his dedicated team, proudly unveiled the inaugural Borinqueneers monument sign in Aguadilla, PR. This marks just the beginning of our journey, as we have plans to install a total of 78 signs in the future. Our mission is to create a movement that honors the legacy of the historic 65th Infantry Regiment. We are also committed to changing the narrative surrounding Puerto Rican veterans, ensuring they receive the same respect afforded to veterans from the mainland United States. It is crucial that our government adheres to the PR 203 veterans law and fully recognizes the rights we are entitled to. Together, as veteran organizations, we can rally in support of our elected officials to accelerate the path toward equality. This is our heartfelt wish as Puerto Rican veterans. 🇵🇷

I would also like to express our gratitude to Samuel Pérez for his invaluable assistance in ensuring the professional completion of this sign, to Wilfred Torres, the Director of Public Security, and his team for their exceptional coordination in transporting and installing the sign, and to Rodney Ferrer, DAV Department Commander of PR, for his efforts in rallying veterans and spreading the word about the significance of this initiative. Without the contributions of these individuals, this mission would not have been possible. Thanks to their support, we look forward to our next project in the next city in PR, with hope to set it in motion around June 2026, God willing!
