Saving A Hero's Place

Saving A Hero's Place A 501(c)(3) nonprofit, preserving the memory of our fallen first responders through the creation of custom-crafted cherrywood Honor Chairs.

Saving A Hero's Place was created from an experience. An experience that forever changed us and made us realize the importance of something we had done. An honor chair was built for one of our fallen officers. We then built an honor chair for slain MIT Officer Sean Collier of the MIT Police Department. We traveled 33 hours by SUV carrying with us his Chair. We presented this Honor Chair and foreve

r changed our lives. It was that experience that made us create this organization. Seeing the emotions and reactions from the MIT Police Department was something we will never forget. We made life long friends and gave them something to remember Sean Collier every single time they walk into roll call. Our goal and hopes are to continue what we are doing for as long as we can. Your donations are what keeps us going. Your donations not only help create an Honor Chair, they also make sure it gets to where it belongs. Presenting an Honor Chair in person is what our hopes are. We could simply ship the chair to agencies across the nation, but it doesn't make it personal. It doesn't allow us to meet those who worked side by side with hour fallen brother or sister receiving an honor chair. Thank you for all your support.

Testing out some Clean Armor finishing methods today. One of the benefits is we can paint the engraved letters, then just wipe off the top! ๐Ÿ’ช

Shortly after starting this mission, we saved the place of Trinity University Police Department Officer Marc Uland Kelley. I was with San Antonio PD at the time so I never got the honor or knowing him. Trinity University Chief Paul Chapa requested the chair after hearing about us. We never lost touch with Chief Chapa and weโ€™d stop in on occasion to see him. We became friends. Fast forward to now, after leaving SAPD in 2019, moving around a bit for this mission, and although our travels still donโ€™t give me a ton of time to suit up, itโ€™s an honor to now wear the Trinity University badge as a part time officer. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

For those of you that didn't see these this past weekend! The pen on the left has K9 Beau's ashes and small diamonds; the middle pen is K9 Nina's hair and diamonds; and the pen on the right has K9 Beau's ashes, diamonds AND strands of his long gold hair! I had 6 tiny diamonds so I sent them to him with the other 'items' ;)

A huge thank you to Tommy from Saving A Hero's Place for making these for me to give to Chief! We couldn't find videos or instructions for doing this, but somehow Tommy got it done! (and no, he didn't video it! lol)

I was skeptical about the green with Nina's hair, but Tommy was spot on with this one! It looks like Jade!!! All 3 of these are spectacular - thank you Tommy!!!

Just an FYI. Since day one, we have handwritten thank you notes for every single donation we receive on our website when an address is provided.

Weโ€™ve gotten a few donations lately without a street address, so we are unable to send anything. ๐Ÿ˜ž I know people many times want to just donate and not get recognition, but we really like to at least send a thank you. ๐Ÿ’™

We appreciate you all! Canโ€™t do it without you and we have never forgotten that. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

When you get rough sawn lumber, neither edge is straight. Whatโ€™s one way to get a straight edge? Track Saw!

After that, we can now run the straight edge along table saw fence and rip the piece to the sizes we need. Itโ€™s a process to get to a finished Honor Chair. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป
