I

Dear Birdseye Community,

Randi N O'Shea, has had the honor of serving as the club leader of the Birdseye Hi-Altitude 4-H Club for more than 11 years. It has been a privilege to serve not only 4-H, but our youth, families, and community as well.

She has truly enjoyed being a part of this club and have loved watching our members grow over the years. However, after a great deal of thought and consideration, I have made the difficult decision to step down from my position as club leader, effective October 1, 2026.

In order for Birdseye Hi-Altitude to continue as a club, we need a parent, family member, or other interested adult to step forward and take on the club leader role.

Being a 4-H club leader is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our youth. You get to watch kids grow, help them develop leadership and responsibility, encourage them through challenges, and celebrate their successes right alongside them. Please don’t feel like you have to know everything or have all the answers. You don’t. There are resources, guidance, and support available through the Extension Office and 4-H Council. I am also more than willing to help with the transition and share what I have learned over the years.

If you are willing to consider stepping into the club leader role, please reach out to the Extension Office as soon as possible. Even if you are unsure about what the position involves or whether you are able to take it on, I encourage you to ask questions. We would much rather have a conversation about the possibilities than see our club lose its leadership simply because someone wasn’t sure where to start.

With sincere gratitude,
Randi O’Shea
Birdseye Hi-Altitude 4-H Club Leader

Thank you to those that participated. Unfortunately when I went to take signs down close to 3, someone had already removed the one from Lincoln Road!!! Not sure when it happened but hopefully our pockets are heavier and our homes with less clutter. We’ll chat again later about whether to make it an annual event or combine with something else too. Have a great weekend!!!!

The wildland fire at the corner of Lone Pine and Jaybird has been extinguished. It burned 2.4 acres before being stopped.

Many thanks to our volunteers and our mutual aid partners, West Valley Fire, East Valley Fire, the DNRC, and VA Fire for coming out and lending a hand.

Tall grass and a light wind carried this fire up against Jaybird Rd. If you haven't already, now is the time to knock down tall grass around your property and remove flammable materials from around and against structures.

FYI FYI... Lincoln Rd will be closed the next 3 days so they can tear out everything before they install the round a bout at Applegate. Wed, Thu, Fri, 7 am to 9pm. You wont get past the round a bout at green meadow.

⚠️Helena Valley – MDT and Hoffman’s R&M Services LLC are closing Lincoln Road east of the Applegate Drive intersection from August 19 to 21, weather and other unforeseen factors permitting. The closure will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day. A detour route using Montana Avenue, Sierra Road, and Green Meadow Drive will be in place during the closure and marked with signage. This closure will allow crews to remove and replace a bridge on Lincoln Road near the Applegate Drive intersection.
