Hi Sleeping Giant and Helena community,
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hosting a public listening session next week in Helena regarding MEPA, the Montana Environmental Policy Act. DEQ is looking for feedback on how to modernize MEPA, and get the public's thoughts on how MEPA should be implemented moving forward. This is an important opportunity for us to make our voices heard and uphold the Held V Montana ruling of our constitutional right to a clean and healthful environment. The DEQ has put out three prompts for folks to consider when making comment (you can find these and more information here:
What changes, if any, are needed to modernize MEPA?
What should an analysis of greenhouse gas emissions and climate impacts include?
What opportunities exist for state agencies to be more thorough, balanced, efficient, or consistent?
The hearing will take place next Wednesday, October 18th from 6-8PM at the Delta Colonial Hotel, 2301 Colonial Drive in Helena.
Please join us for a prep session at 4PM on October 18th in the large conference room of the Lewis and Clark Library to help organize our messaging and answer questions folks may have before commenting.
Please share widely with those who you think could be interested!
