A message from The American Legion of Montana

Dear American Legion Family,
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Diane Carlson Evans has passed away. Diane was a dedicated member of Helena Post 2 and a nationally recognized champion for women veterans, best known for her tireless work ensuring the Vietnam Women’s Memorial became a reality.
Her impact on generations of female veterans and on all who advocate for fair recognition of service will be felt for decades to come. Diane’s legacy is one of courage, persistence, and profound service to our nation.
At this time, service arrangements have not been finalized. We have been informed that a memorial will be held in the fall. We will share details with you as soon as they are available.
Please keep Diane’s family, friends, and all who served alongside her in your thoughts.
With respect and gratitude,

Erin Carpenter

WELCOME TO THE MONTANA LEGACY RUN

We’re proud to launch the official page for the Montana American Legion Riders Legacy Run — and this is just the beginning.

August 14–16, 2026
Starting in Missoula and traveling across some of the most iconic roads and communities in Montana

This isn’t just another ride. This is Montana’s first-ever statewide Legacy Run — a mission-driven journey bringing Riders together from across the state for something bigger than ourselves.

Over three days, we’ll ride through communities like Sula, Wisdom, Bannack, Ennis, Helena, Lincoln, Kalispell, Plains, and St. Regis — building camaraderie, honoring our veterans, and strengthening the bond that makes the American Legion Riders who we are.

WHY WE RIDE
This ride supports programs that provide critical assistance to veterans and their families — ensuring we continue to serve those who have served.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Incredible Montana scenery
Strong Rider fellowship
A purpose-driven mission
A ride that will become a Montana tradition

This is more than miles — it’s meaning, mission, and Montana pride.

Follow this page for route details, registration info, sponsorship opportunities, and updates as we build something special together.

Ride with purpose. Ride for those who can’t. Carry the legacy forward.
