Building strong healthcare workforce starts with early exposure, mentorship, work-based learning experiences, and partnerships that connect students with career opportunities.

Strengthening healthcare workforce pipelines is essential to ensuring communities across Montana have access to the care they need now and in the future.

Medicaid has been vital for the Montana UIO's providing services and sustainability measures. Thank you NCUIH for the report.

Medicaid plays a critical role in health care for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Urban Indian people. In 2023, approximately 2.7 million AI/AN people were enrolled in Medicaid nationwide, including 49% of AI/AN children.

Urban Indian Organizations are essential access points for this care: 59% of AI/AN people receiving care at UIOs are Medicaid beneficiaries, and 8 out of the top 10 states with the largest AI/AN Medicaid populations are served by UIOs.

NCUIH's updated resource, Overview of the Impact of Medicaid on Health Care for American Indian and Alaska Native People, breaks down this data alongside the Medicaid changes taking effect under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (some states already ahead of the national deadline), and what NCUIH is calling for to protect access to care.
