Hedley VFD August Recap 🚒

Our volunteers responded to 14 total calls for service during the month of August.

Here is a breakdown of last month's incidents:
🔥 11 Fire Calls
(including 2 mutual aid assists to our neighbors in Clarendon)
🚗 3 Motor Vehicle Accidents
Two of the vehicle accidents we attended this month were severe and resulted in a tragic loss of life.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences remain with the families and loved ones affected by these heartbreaking events.

It's coming Cotton Festival time!

This evening the guys hauled wood and helped make sauce for the Hedley Lion's Club Annual Chicken BBQ Fundraiser. This year, Hedley Volunteer Fire Department is teaming with our Lion's Club to help run the event. Funds raised from the meal will benefit both organizations.

This year, the Chicken BBQ Dinner will be held at the Hedley ISD playground on Thursday, September 3rd at 6pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the event.

Incredibly grateful to the The 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle for their generous donation, which will cover the purchase of structural and/or wildland gear for *all* of our firefighters! Due to their incredible contribution, every Hedley VFD firefighter will soon be appropriately outfitted in brand new, up-to-date protective gear - a first for our department, which has been underequipped and relying on hand-me-downs for many years!

We're so thankful for great neighbors and community businesses, like our friends over at Wicked Fast Attire. Today they helped us get our new-to-us Command Truck decked out!

This morning Hedley VFD joined Clarendon, Groom, and Howardwick VFD's in Clarendon's annual 4th of July parade!

Today was our monthly work day. Among today's activities: an opportunity to provide controlled burn services right here in town!

Teams responding to the structure fire outside of Hedley yesterday, returned home safely this morning at approximately 1:15am. It was a long night, including a 30 minute shelter in place during a tornado warning!

We want to thank our brothers with the Clarendon Volunteer Fire Department for the assist in mitigating the fire.

What started as a simple idea to support our volunteer firefighters turned into something so much bigger.

Because of YOU, the Panhandle Strong Fundraiser officially raised $3,480 for local volunteer fire departments across the Texas Panhandle!

And now…

THE SHIRTS HAVE ARRIVED!

Seeing that first stack of navy tees and black sweatshirts come off the press made all the late nights, spreadsheets, emails, and sorting worth it. These aren’t just shirts.

They represent:
