A Hero Never Forgotten. 🇺🇸
On October 19, 2007, at just 24 years old, Deputy Sheriff Jason Edward Mooney made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office in Virginia. Jason proudly served our country as a United States Marine, including a deployment to Iraq, before continuing his commitment to protecting others as a deputy sheriff and volunteer firefighter.
Though his watch ended far too soon, his legacy of courage, sacrifice, and service lives on.
A life of service is never measured solely by the years someone is given, but by the lives they touch, the sacrifices they make, and the difference they leave behind. Jason’s sacrifice reminds us that behind every badge is a person who answered the call to serve, knowing that the job could demand more than most people will ever be asked to give.
Today, TLSD Mooney honors Jason through his work with St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1. Every call answered, every life protected, and every first responder helped carries forward the spirit of service that defined Jason’s life. Through his dedication to service, Jason’s legacy continues—not just in memory, but in action. Different uniforms, different calls, but the same commitment: to serve, to protect, and to put others first.
Jason’s life reminds us that true heroes never really leave us. They live on through the people they inspire and the lives touched by their sacrifice.
One gave his life in service. Another continues to serve in his honor. Both are forever connected by the call to protect others.
Deputy Mooney, your watch may have ended, but your legacy lives on proudly through TLSD Mooney and the brave men and women of St. Tammany Fire.
