Continuing our countdown to August and the fabulous washing their press, we send our love and support to them as they recover from last week’s fire. As this project has demonstrated all along, the community is strong and comes together for a cause, and we encourage everyone to support Three Brothers in the months to come: true to form, they have already pivoted and are proudly serving wine again!

Harvest got in the way and we've been quiet recently, but now it is time to catch back up on our Winemaker Pin-Up Stars! And we are picking back up with July, Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards, Oskar, and - a true 🌟 - 2021 'Winemaker of the Year,' Fred Merwarth! We can't say for sure if this daring pose is what sealed the award for Fred, but we can't say it didn't ;-)

Stay tuned in the coming days as we round out the 2021 year of photos and announce our fundraising total!

As we say goodbye to June we’d like to share Bill Jensen’s pairing note which perfectly captures his love of poetry in motion, wine, and the intersection of the two.

In a world made of steel full of unremarkable, inoffensive rosé, one blush dares to feel the rhythm, dance right across your palate and through your life. This is a pink wine with something to say, wildly refreshing but equally interesting, full of brambly wild berries, rhubarb, a summer’s garden worth of crushed herbs. It’s bright and bracing but substantial enough to hold its own with just about anything left over in your fridge. It has all the dance hall sophistication of Pinot Noir coupled with Steel City charm. Close your eyes, and it will take a hold of your heart. What a feeling!

“The 2017 Pinot Gris isn't what you might expect: it's decidedly un-Pinot Gris, which means it loses its stuffy Alsatian baggage and ends up wearing, well, absolutely nothing when it's in the Finger Lakes. It has the opportunity to show all of its curves and textures (and a little bit of color!), and its lively personality extends to a sassy, fruit-forward Pinot Gris that makes you turn your head and stand up a little straighter. Kelby and Meagz may have been self-proclaimed non-drinkers of Pinot Gris, but they have nothing left to lose when making this blushing version of it.”

They say April showers bring May flowers, but it's been a sunny month anywhere has been hanging out! As we end the month, our thanks to the multi-talented and endlessly clever Josh Carlsen for this perfect tasting note to accompany Alex's photo and Soul Red:
